Sorry if this topic has already been discussed - I took a quick look around and didn't find anything regarding replacing or repairing the rack and pinion steering in one of these boats.
I have an '88 Advance and the steering is getting pretty darn stiff, especially during quick wheel movements and seems to get stiffer the tighter the rudder is turned. Should I replace the steering, cables and all (they look good), or is there some maintenance that can help fix this problem? And, just how difficult is it to replace...remembering that it is still cold up here in PA and I don't have a heated garage?
Appreciate any words of wisdom on this topic.
