Advance guys battery question
« on: September 24, 2010, 11:49:37 AM »
Could be simple answer, but just curious. Im thinking about putting the battery under the "L" seat. Where are you guys putting them? Found any positives or negatives (no pun intended) on where yours is located?

The TBX has a recessed area under the L seat then there is a cover for it.

I guess a better question would be "why did they move it out from under the L seat???"  My only guess would be it tends to get kinda wet under there...

If water isnt a real concern, will the battery even fit under the L seat???  It'll be a really close fit - I'd be afraid it may ground out on the underside of the seat...  SHOCKING to say the least  :(

Where did you find your battery mounted?? The only Advance version I can think of with the battery somewhere other than under the L seat was the Carrera. It was under the rear seat bottom port side. My guess is someone may have sheeted over the floor and the battery no longer fit under the seat??

When I got the boat the floor was rotten and half gone. I didn't know where it was supposed to go in the first place. Under the l seat was a guess. I don't know where it was mounted as there wasn't one there/ anywhere. You have to remember what I started with. Next to nothing. If it looks half original ill be impressed with myself. Most everything I did what I thought was right.

Ron,  My battery is located just inside the seat/hatch to the bow on the port side sitting in a battery box.  I havent seen any other AM Skier Advance so I'm kinda in there with Mike - guessing.

There is an after-market stereo mounted in the driver's side of the L seat with an amp under there as well...  The amp is coming out and I intend to locate the new one someplace other than the floor (who ever put it in there wasnt thinking).

Where exactly under the L seat did you guys install the battery???   I'll move it back since its in the way at its current location.

mine is located under the L seat. There should be a cutout in the fiberglass under the seat, a plastic well is recessed in the floor. Only a short battery will fit .Next time I go to the marina I will take a pic and post it.

I'm thinking both Mike & I could use a few pics so we can SEE what a proper battery installation looks like  :)

Thanks again!

Pics are good. Also can someone tell me where to get the plastic insert that is in the floor? I might just make one out of diamond plate.

Ok, so I ended up putting it just inside the L seat, where I think yours is Joel. 2 reasons, the biggest being I didnt want to cut the hole to put it under the seat. The other being I didnt want to limit myself on the size of battery.

Seems to be working out ok for now.

The hole, actually two, are already cut in mine (somebody put a stereo / amp under there - not a good idea).  Anyway, the battery is kinda in the way when putting in / pulling out gear with it sitting just inside the bow hatch - I will probably move it under the seat if it'll fit.  Gotta take out the stupid amp & stereo since they both got soaked when I forgot to turn on the auto-bilge during a HUGE rainstorm while skiing in KY.  Dumb-ass move on my part, but it would've gotten wet sooner or later...   :(   Time to find a new amp and mount it on a wall under the bow.
