Sherwood J70 impeller pump rebuild
« on: August 06, 2013, 08:19:51 AM »
I recently rebuilt my Sherwood J70 impeller pump using the major kit (part #12665).  This includes all of the seals, the shaft bearings and other parts, and of course the rubber impeller.  I took a few pictures, not as many as I could have but I wanted to get this done.  I have a powdercoating setup I use for my business so I went ahead and cleaned up the rusty bracket, pulley, and pump section and powdercoated them black as well.  Hopefully one day the rest of the engine will look as good as the pump!

The J70 is discontinued so I guess next go around will mean a new pump...unless any of the parts from the G21 used on PCM engines will work in the J70??  My engine is the 351 Ford Commander.

Most difficult part of the job is pressing the new bearings on the impeller shaft, other than that it is pretty straightforward and easy.
