I need engine room pictures.
« on: May 24, 2013, 07:26:14 AM »
I am rebuilding a 1990 AS Advance Sport and it was totally gutted, I need mainly where all the blower vents and blower assembly go.
thanks

I looked through a few folders and didn't see what you were looking for

mid 80's and older the blower was mounted above the fuel tank near the exhaust vent
pita - to replace
late 80's early 90's  models had the blower installed on either side of the engine about floor level and vent hose to the rear exhaust vent
mid 90's and newer the blower was mounted on a bracket spanning the stringers in front of the fuel tank - so unless Ron wants to add his 2 cents
install it where it seems to make the most sense and is a serviceable location

good luck

Thankyou for the response, there are also 3" holes cut in the cabin behind the instrument cluster , I believe three on top and six in the floor below. Were these connected with vent hose or left open? This is why I would like photos. :-\

3 vent holes under the deck need to be connected w/ 3" vent hose & simply pushed into 3 of the floor holes to allow outside air to enter the bilge, the other holes are for steering cable & wiring. The bilge blower or its suction hose must originate from the lower 1/3 of the bilge, so as long as you floow that you can place it where you want, the newer models had the blower mounted between the exh. suspended from a piece of aluminium flat bar.

my 1991 legend has the blower fan on the passenger side of the engine right in the middle of the block with the 3" vent hose snaking through water hose and tranny cooler and then into a fitting of 3" glassed in pvc pipe then changing again to vent hose to go around the fuel tank and out the back vent. Is the fan purposefully put on the same side as fuel pump, lines and water seperator for vapors or will it do its job well enough from just behind the tranmission in between the exhaust like you say ron? that would allow me to easily remove still functioning but old brittle hose instead of replacing which is one of those jobs i am procrastinating right now. Also jeremy i can post some engine bay pics of where mine is if the tanis boys say its there for a reason
