New guy 1%er
« on: August 23, 2012, 07:31:58 AM »
Howdy folks, new to this forum! Im a boat weirdo, have been for years, Id adopt them all if I could! My fancy lad younger brother is purchasing a new boat and has graciously given me his old one (what a guy), I love this hull and would love to know more about it, I know this site is dedicated to American Skier SKI boats, but is there anybody who can tell me about the Fish American boats? Ive read what I could find about the company history (which is not much) they were bought and sold and moved and moved again but what manufacturer actually made this hull? Thanks

Would that be a Wesmar boat?  It looks pretty awesome. I always thought center consoles were neat.

1991-95 are the WESMAR owned days, they were known to mix & match anything to sell a boat, they also owned Shamrock Fishing boats, and Invader Boats, and had some Bonita molds, I've never seen anything  from WESMAR like this but I agree the Z stripe looks very familiar. Can you post the first letters in the HIN number, that will tell me where it was built.

It is an American Skier boat but I dont think they actually built the hull. It is in beautiful shape for being a 92, Ill put a couple more up.

My brother is less concerned with its being clean than I am.
the letters are  AKKBFF, thanks for the help Ron!

AKK is the original USCG HIN Identifier & was used by the original company, & WESMAR continued to use the identifier in the Ocoee plant, Cape Coral plant & Giddings TX plant. In 1996 I changed the identifier to SKI. Your boat would have been built in Cape Coral FL where the Shamrock Fishing Boats were built, and I believe they were all inboards with a pocket drive system. My WAG (wild ass guess) is that Shamrock had dealers wanting to sell outboard fishing boats as well as inboards so they took somebody's mold & called it Fish American to increase their market. What you really have is an outboard powered Shamrock with the American SKier nameplate. These were probably only available during 1992 while the boats were made in Cape Coral. It is not an American SKier hull converted to a center console fishing boat, it is cool though.

Is that Fish American a prop & rudder boat?
I know there isn't much love for Mastercraft here, but I got some pretty extensive play time in the 20' CSX in Ft. Meyers - it was...what's the word?..RAD!

I like MCs, and any other ski boat without a monkey-bar set on top. I guess I'm not really fond of putting engines in backwards either, I'm too big to service them darn things. Truth be told there must be alot of "other" brand ski boat owners who monitor this site but call or write me directly for advise, I'm fine with that.

It took some soul searching to put the tower on, but in the end I went for it just to be able to take the whole fandamily out at once (overhead rope as well as ski/board racks). If the thing is proportionately correct it's not too bad...I know, I know - it looks like crap! I've got the tower off right now to shrink wrap, and the boat lines are so clean without it!
Oh well, in the end it helps me get that giant Volante amplitude ;D!
