Fuel sender replacement
« on: June 27, 2012, 07:24:59 PM »
After I finished my rebuild I replaced the gauges and the fuel tank sender. When I was at the reunion I realized that the fuel gauge was only reading up to half a tank. I pulled off the sender lead and grounded it to the tank and the gauge pegged full so I knew the gauge was good.
I was not a very happy camper that my sender only lasted three months. It's a Moeller which I thought was supposed to be a quality piece.

I did some searching and I found some senders at Wema USA. These are not the usual swing arm construction. They have a vertical tube that the float rides up and down on. They're all 316 stainless construction and it's a quality built piece. Check it out at http://www.wemausa.com/

I guess the real test is how long it lasts but I'm impressed so far. The prices aren't bad either. The Moeller I think was was $20 or $25. The Wema unit was $43 shipped to my door.

If anyone is needing a new tank sender, I would definitely check them out.

Here is the new vs. the old. The Wema unit just looks so much more stout.

When people run down to the lake to see what is making that noise, you've succeeded.
