Were looking at using Shanghai Resort on the North Side...  What do you think about this location?  Price, rooms, service, cleanliness, ammenities (pool, bar, hot tub, etc), restaurant & bar, marina, boat dock condition, truck & trailer parking, etc...?

We know the South Side has better water because of less people/less boats but its also pretty remote with not a lot to do for family.   Were trying to balance great skiing (glass smooth water) with family needs (entertainment options besides skiing/boating, pool, etc) and of course COST...

Give us some input before we make final plans.

Thanks,  Joel

HELL YEAH!!!!!!  my american skier family is always welcome !!!!!!!.... shanghai is about 58 miles from me (THIS IS A BIG LAKE BROTHERS!!!)  but i have been there and it's a beautiful marina with lots of perks!! lots of nice coves and smooth spots.....but.....it's fathers day weekend so there might be some traffic...but there is more than enough lake to find that sweet spot!!!!! i'm on the other end ...but I agree that there is more of a  family atmosphere  on that side  and a lot more options for hotels and cabins !!! joel I will call you mon. or tues. eve if thats cool!!

Dave,

My cell is (614) 886-3511.   Call anytime... no worries.  I'd like to get your input and talk about assisting everyone on the day of arrival.  Most of us have never been there before so we may need copies of lake maps of the North Side, info on what areas to avoid (shallow, rocks, submerged obstacles) and coupons for local eateries (if any) and anything else you can think of...

Let me know,

Joel

Guys, I spoke with Susan @ Shanghai this afternoon
they have 10-12 rooms available for our weekend

the rest are booked out to crownline boats - they are doing a photo shoot the week b4 ( 8th  to 16ish)
she also stated the do not give group discounts - so $99 a night for the hotel room is the cheapest it will be

Thanks Dan...  Looks like we need to "make it happen".   That lovely lady also called me back but I was in Findlay, OH, freezing my butt off and havent called her back yet...  Sorry, my bad...  :(

Guys,  I'm not the official AM Skier anything, but Dan & I seem to be the ones quasi-coordinating this event.   As such, I'd recommend whoever is coming to the Reunion start making reservations ASAP (by the end of this weekend) before they run out of the rooms.

What do you guys say?

I say let's do it.

I seem to remember seeing a Malibu sign on some of the pics for the resort so I'm guessing the Shanghai is familiar with a manufacturer specific boating crowd. The fact that Crownline is there solidify's that fact too. We'll just have to show the Crownline guys what a real quality boat is supposed to look, sound and ski like. They just might be doing a photo shoot for us by the end of the weekend.
When people run down to the lake to see what is making that noise, you've succeeded.

Good job gentlemen, Thank you.  Room is booked for the Thur 13th thru Sun 16th. Susan did mention there were only 9 more rooms ava and 2 cabins. launch fee is included in the room and there were a couple of hoses by the launch for wash down. I did ask about preference between cabin and room and she commented she would not do the cabin unless I planned on cooking my own meals. My reply "I'm not on vacation to cook (i barely cook at home)". Look forward to seeing all there! Dennis

Were booked...  June 12 - 19th!   Room with two queen beds for seven nights for $545!!!  You cant beat that with a stick!   We'll be getting there a few days before everyone and leaving well after, but what the hell  :)

Book them now... the rooms are going FAST!!!!  Not sure about the cabins, but they are not too expensive compared to other prices I've seen for cabin rentals.

Were cooking with gas now!   See ya'all there!!
