Smith and Son are in.  I'll try better to get the '84 to the show this year.  Otherwise, I'm more than happy to hand out with great people and great boats.

Eddie thanks so much for all of the info...........

I posted a facebook event for Saturday  June 15 - 2013 American Skier Boats Reunion **Norris Lake** Maynardville, TN
so our facebook friends know the date and the general location.

I also updated MidwestAmericanSkier.com with the same info and added some of the this forum postings.

this is google map of Norris Lake Area (this dammed up river now "lake" has over 750 miles of shoreline and is over 35,000 acres)
for reference Hickory Star should be point "A" and is on the south side of the "lake"

https://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&ie=UTF-8&q=hickory+star+marina&fb=1&gl=us&hq=hickory+star+marina&cid=0,0,1200770992050785653&ei=5LPxUMruMoSLrAGUi4C4DQ&ved=0CJABEPwSMAc

This week Paula and I will reach out the resorts starting from the East 1. Beach Island, 2. Hickory Star, 3. Stardust resort and so on

Accommodating everyone's wishes or expectations will be impossible since none of us have stepped foot on any of these property's.

Some feedback being considered will be:
what will other family members do (if they come along this time)
is the atmosphere "fun"
the guys will be there eat sleep talk and ski boats............ yet most of us would like to share the experience with our families too
so there is a "female" component to be considered as well.
any restaurants bars etc nearby
Walmart (?)
gas
launch ramp etc

Personally this is a great annual opportunity for Ron and I and our families to see each other once a year :)

I'll post what I find out asap

In the mean time lock in the dates of Fathers Day weekend and plan on heading towards Norris Lake TN
I'll be there Thursday night (6-13) and leaving to come back home Tuesday morning (6-18)

Dan,  Thanks for following up...  To find anything "interesting" for family members (other than boating, skiing, tubing, kneeboarding) we'll need to look at the northern half of the lake which has more amenities but busier with weekenders, lots of boats, etc.  I'm all for it either way, but your right if I want the wife & kiddies to come along we'll need to find a place with more than just great water.

Looking forward to it!!

this has been tougher than expected

this is boat show season and several resort owners are trying to drum up business @ the shows this time of year
so getting responses has been hit or miss

from what I can tell all of Eddies info on Hickory Star seems pretty accurate
and most likely somewhat similar to Buchanan's Resort (?)
www.hickorystar.com

Beach Island Resort which is 7 miles to the east - can only accommodate via houseboats
option 1 - 1 houseboat 3 pm Friday to 10 am Monday for $2200 plus fuel

option 2 - 2 houseboats stationary - docked connected to dock power no fuel cost $2200 for both - (which is the off season rate and only available if the boats are not booked)

they have a cabin or 2 restaurant work out room etc
www.beachislandmarina.com

Shanghai Resort - north side - no live contact yet - email request sent but not replied to yet
www.shanghairesort.com

no go
www.sequoyahmarina.net/    only 1 double wide available for sleeping

www.watersideatnorris.com‎ - condos for sale only

that's all I have for now

Dan,  Thanks for the effort!

I just wrote a message to Shanghai Resort to inquire about availability, prices, etc..  Looks like the only one left that could meet our needs, comparable prices, and closer to more amenities.  I'll let everyone know if they respond.  I may just call them 100 times just to see if anyone answers  ;)   Business must be GREAT if none of these places are answering the phone or email...

PaulM & brother Don makes SEVEN or is that EIGHT!!   :-\   I agree... bring BOTH!!   Were cooking with gas now!!!  Who else is coming?!?!

We should have some word on hotel info soon from Shanghai Resort.  If not, we'll probably need to pull the trigger on the Hickory Star Resort on the south side of the lake which should be a fine place as well... and even better water!

Absolutely agree that The Shanghai is probably the most cost effective choice on the north side.

I had the same issues as Dan and Joel trying to contact these places. Actually, Hickory Star was the easiest to contact. This is the off season and unfortunately, these places are pretty much ghost towns now with skeleton crews at best.  You would think somebody at least is checking email or messages.

Don/Paul,
How about hauling both down on a flatbed. Then you shouldn't havce to worry about putting a tranny in your truck either  ;D ;D ;D   LOL
When people run down to the lake to see what is making that noise, you've succeeded.
