My 1980 AS had a cobbed together assembly of junk 2x4's making up the area behind engine cover where the hatch (floor panel?) was that could be lifted or unscrewed to access the prop shaft thru hull fitting and exhaust pipe area (center between the two middle stringers about 2' wide?) and I am trying to determine what it should look like as I restor boat to factory specs.....

Anybody got a birds-eye type view of that area on a similar boat w/and w/o the floor/hatch/panel in place?
I was thinking of making a hatch/panel of resined wood and using 2" wide 1/4" thick aluminum angle on the sides of stringers to make perches for the sides, but not sure about fore and aft edges--they will also need a lip or ledge to sit on--hence the 2x4's frame across it that I removed--but it looked crappy and was water logged. Then I can make some nice twist style screw stays w/D-ring handles on them to hold it down and make easy to open--which I realize is not "factory" but will look it when I am done with it....
