For anyone that is interested there is an 89 Advance that is JUST AS NICE with a few more hours listed on Ski-It-Again.com for $6900.  It also appears to be in excellent condition with less than 500 hours I think.  I'd have already bought it if my wife wouldnt KILL me  ;)  Hate to see it over-looked if one of our board-members is in need of a nice AM Skier  :)

Looks like it must have sold already.  Knew it wouldnt last long.  It was waaaaaay too nice.  The 86 looks more like a project boat with lots of work involved.

I bought the 89 Advance that was on ski-it-again - just spent a week with it at Lake Tippecanoe in northern Indiana - fantastic boat that doesn't seem to need anything but a new blower.

It's my first inboard - any tips or words of wisdom would be appreciated as I expect it to be in the family for a long time to come.

Art,

Welcome, thanks for joining in on the discussion, please, post some pics of that gem you own. Stick with us here and you'll be in great hands. Again, thanks for joining the forums.

First things first, be sure to get that new blower ASAP! You don't want to be running without one.

Thanks Phil - I just posted a photo I had from the seller - don't have any new ones of my own yet.

It's going in tomorrow for a new blower.

I've already adjusted my schedule for the rest of the summer to get more time in on the lake - I've been wanting to own an inboard for about 30 years now - after a week with it, I don't think I could have found a better option to fulfill that long term goal.

Awesome, that trailer looks to be in great shape too! There's nothing like having one of these classic sport cars on the water.

You're right - there is nothing like it.  Hitting it full out, cruising at idle speed, even towing my girls tubing last week was about as much fun as I've ever had.

For about the last 20 years we've been using my dad's stern drive, and an outboard before that - now there's no going back!

Question - is there a history of American Skier somewhere on the site?  I have a friend with a '64 Correct Craft American Skier, but I'm pretty sure mine is not a Correct Craft boat.  Would be curious to learn more.

You are correct it is not a Correct Craft boat just the same name. Let me see if I can find a thread that speaks about the history as I'm sure it's been discussed before... You'll notice Ron Tanis (RonT) who visits here often. He has been Owner/Engineer of American Skiers Boats and still supports them today as does his brother Dan Tanis. If I'm not mistaken I believe Dan is up in your neck of the woods.

I think they talked about the CC American Skier and the origins of our American Skiers in the early days of Facebook

Yep, I just copied the best one I could find into a new Thread titled "American Skier History" under the "General Category".
