Shaft Log Rubber Hose
« on: May 16, 2010, 10:24:58 AM »
I am in the process of replacing my stuffing box.  Once everthing was torn down, I noticed that the shaft has quite a groove worn in from the old stuffing box.  Is it advisable to replace the rubber hose with a longer hose to move the stuffing box further up the shaft and out of the groove that has been worn into the shaft?  Also, is this a special type of marine hose? Thanks.

Hose is nothing special, adding 3/4" is usually enough to do what you need.
