Please let us know if you plan on attending and how many are in your party. Thanks!
-
Alright. It seems as though I have been elected (bye Joel only, strange aint it) to be CEO of this deal.
I guess any and all things need to go on this sticky........ and once discussed will either see a yeah or nah.
It has been brought to my attention that the same time and place next year looks more than reasonable and that quite a few folks are thinking a week (and if you can do 2 or 3 days or whatever thats great)
Let the ideas start coming in. Ill start making some phone calls to see where we stand with dates and such.
-
Mike, Excuse me... you volunteered... kinda... sorta :P I coming with a party of FOUR (including myself) and one 1991 Advance.
The Place: I recommend we return to Buchanans resort unless someone can find another place thats just as nice but less expensive. Buchanans was nice, the food was good, the ammenities were O.K., the pool was clean (no chlorine), etc, and the prices were reasonable. The small cottages & the motel rooms were small but nice. The larger cottages & lodges get more expensive, but have tons of room.
Dates: Were planning on a week-long vaca - arrive on Sun or Mon & leave the following Sun. The same weekend worked well. Although, the weekend before or after may be better so the Reunion doesnt conflict with Father's Day. As long as were booked prior to the July 4th weekend we should be golden.
Boat slips: I dont recommend using a boat slip (overnight) - the old gelcoats tend to suck up the color of green scum at the waterline when it sits in the water overnight - it WONT come off without hull cleaner (dont ask me how I know this). Recommend everyone trailer your boats in / out & wipe down as usual - no prob. Plenty of room for trailer parking.
Activities: I recommend we take a collection to rent a Pontoon boat for the Reunion Weekend. It would be very handy for coolers, skis, boards, etc, and we'd have a place for anyone that DOESNT ski or just wants to take a break, sit in the shade & watch, have a cold one, etc... The Plaques and Tee Shirts / Hoodies were BIG HITS. The fact that they had the same design was a plus (IMHO) and I recommend we do something similar in 2012. If we get enough participation maybe we can do some sort of boat show judging (as you've mentioned) with token prizes or trophies - Ron T can be the judge :) I'm already working with Ron T to do one Tech Session on Engine & Shaft alignment. Its a critical maintenance item thats probably the most over-looked on the majority of our boats. And, we can probably talk Dan T into giving a few lessons on Barefootin'... He seems to enjoy it and that looks like a blast on a boom!!!
Other than that, lets have a great time skiing, footin', tubin', etc!!! Both the a.m. and p.m. skiing was GREAT!!! And, during the week there were literally NO BOATS on our little slice of heaven near Buchanans docks or around the corner at the "Girl Scout" public boat ramp.
O.K. I'm done for now... ;)
-
I was thinking this year (before I couldnt make it of course) of renting one of the bigger or biggest cabins and splitting it with another couple/family. Might be something I would be interested in this year. Would depend on the room of course and how many folks in a family....... so on, but if there is only me and one other in my group we may be able to get the same price as a smaller shack and have 2 or 3 times the room.
You guys school me on this, I wasnt there to see what was what.
And I prefer the trailer anyhow, even though mine should clean pretty easy.
-
Mike Harry, with 1 1986 American Skier Advance "Barefoot Skier"
I have no idea how many with me. And short of illegal, Im down with just about anything.
Are there any attractions or places to see close, something that can be done in the middle of the day like the middle of the week? 7 Days of boating will be awesome for me!!! but I dont know if the family (if they choose to come) would be into that so much.
-
Well, I'm in again for sure with 1 92 Legend plus myself. And who knows, by then I might find someone to bring with me....LOL
BJ
PS - The hotel rooms were small and around $75 per day with all taxes(might be a cheaper weekly rate or weekday rate). Rooms meant for just 2 people and as Joel said, both sizes of cabins were nice for families of more.
-
Oh, a few more things. I am looking into having Koozes and new key chain floaties made for next years event. I have a buddy that can possibly do both or I have some contacts that might be able to help.
BJ
-
Fantasitic!! That makes three boats already... and, I'm sure Phil, Gonzo & Rafe will be bringing their AM Skier as well - thats FOUR!!! :) The Land Between the Lakes is a National Park... lots of stuff to see & do - from a National Geographic point of view :) Google it and you'll see whats available. Nashville is two hours away on a good day so dont count on that for a diversion... My wife found that out the hard way...
Accomodations: The Standard Cottages have two small bedrooms, a bathroom, a livingroom & a kitchenette. The Deluxe Cottages are very roomy with two large bedrooms (two Double beds in each), a bathroom, shower room, large livingroom, kitchen/dining area, and a large front & side porch - two families of four can fit (tight, better really like eachother but it'll work). The Lodges are even better & even more expensive, but doubling up with another family is very doable $$$ wise (Ron & Dan's families rented one). The waterfront cottages are expensive and probably not worth the extra $$$ unless doubling up... I've heard they have a hot tub, etc... but havent seen one in person. Me and the family will probably opt for a Standard or Deluxe cottage next trip (depends on how much $$ I can save between now & then...) Specific info on all the accomodations, including the motel rooms & various camping sites, are included on the website.

Count us in, at least Susan & I for a long weekend+?? W/boat (s), David has to go play in the sandbox leaving sometime next summer for 100 days, Don't know about Steven yet.
-
Thats FIVE AM Skiers already!! ;D Mike, you are doing one HELLUVA job!!!! Much better than that last loser event-organizer dude 8)
-
just looked at the pics! looks like a great time sorry i missed it!! maybe with a years notice i can do some ADVANCE planning and make it this time!!!(pun intended)
daveo
-
I am in for sure. This time I will be bringing my wife and daughter so there is 3. And of course Rafe's (my dad) Skier will be coming with one of us. The only thing I think is we should try the week before or after Father's day.
-
NOTED: NOT FATHER'S DAY WEEK
-
Write in Roger and Judy Booth with a Ron Tanis refurbed 1992 Sport Volante! Maybe with 2 friends!
-
Very cool!!! I've been wanting to see a Volante up close & personal... My wife, Renee, doesnt like the Advance because it "doesnt have enough room, no cooler, no bowrider, etc, etc, etc..."
-
Paula and I are in for sure, fathers day weekend was a perfect choice and no problem with it next year either
boat????????? If I have an Amskier @ that time I'll bring it, if I don't I have a couple locally to choose from that could follow me down and back
Dan T
-
Now that I think about it, Father's day won't be a biggie for me since my family will be with me this time.
-
Fathers Day works for me as well... Just thought we may want to avoid it in case its a conflict for some people who'd like to go, but also have Dad's Day duties with family... Whatever weekend works for the majority - I'll be there :)
-
Are you guys hell bent on Buchanans, there are a lot of resorts on Kentucky lake. What's everyone interested in? Saving money, better cottages, ect.?
Anything they didn't have that was missed out on? Pool, bar, parking, ? I don't know, just curious. I'm going to start compiling data this week, so throw me all your comments.
-
I'm going to ask for discount prices if we book 10 cottages, we need to step it up folks! I'm compiling info on a spreadsheet and will share it after I get some quotes this week so everyone can compare for themselves.
-
Buchanans has a nice little pool (no bar - dry County, but you can BYOB), decent restaurant, nice accomodations, fair prices on marina gas (only .50 above gas station price) and literally everything we needed so it was very convenient.
With that said, not hell bent at all... Buchanans was a nice place, but they DONT offer group / discount pricing on ANY of their accomodations. You may be able to find another "resort" that does and is still a nice place. I think cost is # 1 for most of us since we are all traveling and cant do much about the price of gas. Although, we may be able to reduce the price of accomodations and still end up at a nice locale.
Who do we have local that can check out a few places for us??? Anyone... Anyone...??? Bueller... Bueller...???? ;D
-
After spending some time talking to Ron, I think he is correct. I believe that for the first few years the reunion should gain some repetitiveness before we decide to take our show on the road. I think the same place and around the same time would be best for this year at least and possibly the next.
With that I am all about having the get together for a week, but I think that only 1 day or possibly 2 (the actual official dates of the reunion) will be set with an itenerary bye myself (as a group effort of course)
After or before those day, it will be to each his own, and hey Joel or Dan wanna roll up to that smooth water we found, or whatever. You get the picture.
For the one or two days, we are thinking about taking a "registration fee" which (if the numbers work correctly) would cover your shirt, a plaque, a few trophies to hand out, and a pontoon to shuttle people from the shore to the "ski zone" hourly or something to that sort. Something for those who dont want to stay on the water all day, but want to come out and be a part of the action or watch it anyhow.
Please give me some feedback on these ideas, Id love to hear what you think, and as always, any and all ideas are welcome.
-
And before we get 2 far along, Im thinking fathers day will be a good weekend. It is far enough out where everyone can make plans, and it appears to this point that the majority are saying lets do it then.
So unless something changes (the numbers start to sway away from it) Im saying that the official reunion date should be fathers day weekend Saturday and Sunday.
-
Sounds like a plan... We were talking about passing a hat to pay for a pontoon boat during the last reunion and if everyone is still interested in the shirts & plaques ( I am ), then we might as well divide up the costs evenly - shouldnt be too much $$ anyway 8)
Go for it!!!
-
That would be great to get a pontoon out there so people can take a break and have some shade and so the spectators can see what the American Skier is all about!
-
Ok, there are officially 200 plus people on the forum now. I don't see any reason why at least 10% of us folks can't get their butts and their boats to Kentucky lake next year!
-
NOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE A CHALLENGE!!!! I'm up for it!!! Whom else???
Joel
-
Wonder if Mr Elkind might want to attend next year. I don't know the man, but I know Ron does.
What say you Ron?
-
Hmmmm... not many responses to our get your butts & boats to KY Lake :( I hope interest picks up by Spring - the 1st Reunion was a really great time and our little AM Skier group is filled with some of the BEST people I've ever met!!!
Make plans now... save up some $$... and meet up with the rest of us for some good times, great skiing, and grand fellowship :) Dontcha like the way I used three "Gs" in a row... pretty clever for a boy from KY... ;D
-
I've got some painting to do, and if can get Ron off the patterns for the combing pads and OEM seat quick enough ill be at least 90% if not better completed bye then. If i don't do something stupid like change induction on her that is............ ::)
-
Mike, Any updates on the 2nd Annual plans ???
-
Brother, ill be honest..... word is about the same as before. Really looking for some more people to jump on board and take interest. Got a really good idea for some awards I'm working on....
-
I'm here if you need help ;D Hopefully, interest will perk up towards the middle of winter... brrrrrrrrrrr....
-
That is a looong way out for most folks. But good Lord willing, we plan to make it next year.
-
That's good to hear Roger. Trying to get an early start for us folks who don't plan well :-\ so there is plenty of time to get money and vacations in place and such.
We'll see what happens
-
Just so you are all aware there is another thread started on the reunion. It is locked so only Phil or I can use it. It will be used for keeping track of people and boats attending plus any "official" updates.
Of course its a working document so let me know if changes need to be made, but I needed a place to keep track of exactly what's going on without having to re read through this thread to figure it out.
You'll get the idea
-
For those of you who have already confirmed, please look at the other thread and make sure my info is accurate. Post here or p.m. me if changes need to be made.
Dan, I am sorry.... I am unaware if you are married or not and did not want to make that presumption .... if Paula is indeed the boss let me know and I will remove the ( ) from around her name.
Joel, I know the family is coming with you, get me the names though as I don't know them yet.
Phil, I'm guessing your going to be there.... either post your info or get it to me and I will do so.
That's 7 people/families and 5 boats so far! Come on folks lets start jumping on board! You don't want to miss this!
-
yes, married , it will be 22 years blistering I mean blissful years come Thursday
Paula and I plan on making the 2nd reunion for sure and assume for now @ least my son Aaron will be with
depending class schedule & work etc my daughter Rayna too
once we get a 2012 family calendar we will have it marked down father day weekend
and I think we'll be around a few days longer this time :)
Dan T

Sweeeet!
-
That makes TEN families and SEVEN boats! Were starting to get this snowball rolling!! 8)
-
Happy New Year to all the Skiers out there! 8)
Anything new on the horizon since our last update in October?
Spring cant get here soon enough... :'(
-
Gents,
I have been working on creating a web form so that our members can register for the reunion. I hope to have this rolled out onto the site within the next couple of days. So far, the form requests the following information:
1) First and Last Name
2) Phone Number
3) How many people will be in your party?
4) Are you bringing a boat?
5) Will you be staying at Buchanans Resort?
Is there any other important data that you think I should gather? I want to make sure I don't miss anything important before I put this live on the site. However, at the same time, I don't want anyone to feel like they're filling out a tax form.
Once the registration web form is rolled out, I will involve the organizers so that they can keep track of the registrations.
Hope you're all having a great off-season.
-
"How long are you planning to stay?" A few of us are planning to stay longer than just the weekend 8)
-
I'll add it... Thanks!
-
Are you and Alabama or LSU fan? sorry couldnt resist :P
-
I've added the official registration form to the home page of the site. Spread the word!
-
Phil,
I must be getting older & more blind by the minute... cant seem to find the form. Where is it... exactly?
Thanks,
Joel
-
It's on the front page. Go to amskierboats.com and it's in bold print under "Welcome to amskierboats.com" if you don't see it, it's because your browser has cached the page. Hit refresh a few times, clear your browser cache, or restart your computer.
-
It was brought to my attention that the registration form was not functioning properly. After a bit of hacking it should now be fixed. Sorry bout that.
-
AND I have the dates wrong, it's June 16 and 17! Not 17 and 18. Damn it..
-
Come on youngin'.... GET IT TOGETHER!!!! ;D
The form is working now and were registered. Planning on arriving that Friday, June 15th and staying through at least Tuesday, June 19th... we may stay longer. Last year, it was soooooo nice during the week when NO ONE was on the lake. We dropped in just outside Buchanan's no wake buoys and skied. Once we got around that slight bend and shallow cove to the right (about 500 yards) the water was glasssssssssss... The only other people around was an anchored pontoon boat with a few 20-something ladies sittin' around tanning and watching us ski... Well, I'd like to think they were watching ME ski ;)
This is gonna be a BLAST.... AGAIN!!!! ;D
Joel
-
I'm still planning to trailer my 88 Advance to the reunion from Michigan. How does one make reservations for the cabins mentioned above?
-
Who's in charge this year??? Mike Harry I think... ? I'm not sure we need to make reservations just yet, but you need to contact Buchanan's Resort (on KY Lake) directly to make reservations. I dont have the website-link handy, but you can find it easily on Google.
For those of you following along at home... This resort has just about everything you'll need - park the truck, launch the boat and get comfortable. There are a number of different cabin styles, sizes & comfort level options from multi-family lodges, really nice/expensive Condos, to small cabins & hotel rooms - all very comfy depending upon # of people in your group & $$ to spend. They even have camp sites with elec hookups, etc... My family opted for one of the middle of the road cabins, two bedrooms, HUGE porch that housed 6 people easily. The food at the restaurant was VERY good & resonably priced. They have a brand-spankin' new pool (not very big, but the kids & suntanners liked it). The marina is nice, well-stocked & the gas prices were comparable to prices on shore - no need to take a trip up the road for gas. I think it was Ethanol Free as well. Everything is within a couple hundred yards.
One of the reasons we picked June (Fathers Day Weekend) is KY Lake & Lake Barkley are HUGE, the weather / water is nice and traffic is still sparse this early in the season. We were able to get reservations for everybody. We found quite a few good places to ski/foot not far from the resort with minimal traffic over the weekend. During the week it was practically deserted and the skiing was FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC!! Recommend staying longer if you can - were gonna make a mini-summer vacation out of it... :)
Last year we rented a couple of boat slips at the marina and they were handy but I wouldnt recommend doing that... Had a helluva time getting the green out of my gelcoat at the waterline (old gelcoat) :( Recommend using the launch & leaving the boat on the trailer overnight. Ron T showed up with quite a number of small AM Skier "give-away" items, Mike Harry designed & donated AM Skier dash plaques for everyone (out of pocket) and Phil & Gonzo ginned up good quality T-shirts / Hoodies with the same artwork - REALLY NICE - and sold them at cost.
p.s. This year we plan to pass the hat to rent a pontoon boat to use as "skiing central" to drop off / pick up skiers, family members, spectators, ski/footin' gear, coolers, etc - it will come in handy :) And, we may be privy to a new accessory for our boats... Ron T still working on the details :)
If your still on the fence about attending this year... well, get off the damn fence and come on out!!! Ask anyone that went last year -a GREAT time was had by all!! It was like one big happy AM Skier family (that had never met before) without all the drama that comes with our real relatives ;) Good time, good friends & fellowship and GREAT skiing & footin' behind some AWESOME boats :)
Joel

For the curious.. I added a menu button to the home page titled "View Reunion". If you click on that menu button you will be brought to a summary page that shows how many users have signed up, how many people they are planning on bringing and how many boats we are expecting.. You must be signed into the site to see the link.
-
Ill believe it when I see it ;)
NO kidding, I just dont see it. What gives?
-

Just refresh your bowser a few times on the home page. You should see it under "Contact Us" in the left column. Since your Chief Coordinator :) you have access to see all the info submitted.
-
After speaking with Ron T. today and getting logged into the forum I have been sooo excited to attend the reunion. I live in TN, BUT, I am obligated to attend a wedding the weekend of the reunion. I look forward to the photos and stories from the reunion.
-
Thats easy... dont go to the wedding... unless its yours of course :o
Not to worry... some of us may be showing up early and some may be staying late. I think my family has decided to show up earlier in the week and stay through the weekend. Also, the Reunion is officially Fri, Sat and Sun. You should be able to make it out for a day :)
Joel
-
I would like to stop in on Sunday but a 5.5 hour drive across the state after the post wedding celebration would put me there at about dark thirty.
I can't wait for next years schedule.
-
Notice: At the Reunion:
Last year we had sweatshirts, tee-shirts, of which sweatshirts sold out ... we are thinking of limiting it to sweatshirts this year ... with a simple design, perhaps of just the American Skier logo and year of event ... extra large, large, and medium ... last year we sold them for cost, (shirt and logo) ... we will do that again this year.
PS ... this year I will not be selling my sweatshirt, so be certain to get one, or order them in advance, just let me know you want one, etc. pay for it at the reunion, they turned out pretty neat ... probably same color, light gray, hood, heavy weight ... see you at the reunion ... Rafe
-
Rafe or Phil, I wanted to get with you about the sweatshirts........ I am going to place another order for some of those dash plaques (if people liked them last year and would like them again this year that is).
I wasnt there last year, but I think it was pretty cool that the shirts matched the plaques or however you want to look at it. I was going to try and match whatever you are doing if thats ok......
When you say simple design of just the American Skier logo are you talking about one of the shields? The bubble script graphic?
Do you have anything drawn up yet that I might be able to send my guy to imitate?
Let me know please. Its no hurry now but I want to roll on some stuff before it gets to soon and I have to start jumping through hoops to make stuff happen.
-
on a separate note, I am going to make 2 or 3 large plaques (nice plaques I plan on hand making) for some awards this year.
I was thinking 1 could be longest haul (most miles travel to get to reunion)
Possibly best boat picked bye Ron or Dan or both...
Anyone else have any ideas? Please remember I'm paying for these ;D so I'm only going to go with the best 2 or 3 suggestions.
-
Great... now I'll have to tow my boat UP to Michigan and back down to Tenneessee just to win a plaque! :P
Seriously, I think that is ANOTHER great idea! And, whatever design / style / size you think is appropriate is good for me... I mean, DAAY-YAAMN, your really going at this...!!! I'm proud just to know ya and we havent even met... yet :) And, yeah... Ron & Dan do the judging - no brainer :)
Also, working with Phil & Gonzo on the design so it all matched up was well worth the effort! Both the plaques and the sweatshirts / t-shirts were a big hit! Most liked the sweatshirts better than the T's and they went super FAST! Really good quality stuff... My Dad liked the sweatshirt soooo much he guilted me out of it the first time he saw it... The design looked a little "busy" on the plaques because they were much smaller in scale, but I loved it just the same. VERY COOL and thank you again!
A slightly different design for each year is a good thing - makes each one more memorable IMHO. Other than that, you guys do what you want... SURPRISE US... we'll love 'em :)
Joel
-
Alright guys, I going to need to get the plaques ordered here pretty soon. Wondering if we were any closer on getting a design together?
Also there is going to be a special supprise for those towing boats. I'm going to go over to the registration page and get a count of how many boats are slated to show up...... if anyone else is towing their boat you need to get it up on the registration page! I'm getting my count from there and if you are not on it within a week or so you may miss out on whats coming to ya!
-
I "should" be on it... If not, were coming down from Columbus, OH... ;) See ya'all in a couple months!!! CANT WAIT!!!!
-
Who made the farthest trek last year? Our tow is further than Joel's :P
-
I think us Bennett's are in the running for the longest haul last year...Hartford, CT and back. Wish I could say we were definite for a return trip this year but, it's too far for a weekend trip and I can't take any more time off of work. I'm really bummed too - would love to show off the Comanche!!
-
damn, that is one hell of a trip!
-
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo.... you GOTTA come!!! Damn!!! :'(
I think BJ has the longest tow... Somewhere in TX... It takes 3000 miles just to get out of Texas... ;)
Joel
-
Man i wish i would of got on this forum a year ago!!! I bet you guys all have a great time out there maybe next year i will be able to join you all. I think I'm going to need to save a little in advance if I'm dragging a boat from central Kansas ha ha. John Doerfler lives in the same town as i do ill have to make him convoy out there with me!!
-
I just wanted to let you know that my wife and have decided to make the trek to the reunion this year. I still need to call and make resrevations at Buchanan's but we're coming. Once I get them made I'll do the official reunion sign up thingy on the home page. Definitely bringing the boat too. My sister-in-law and her hubby from WI will be joining us as well.
Definitely looking forward to meeting everyone!!!

Are non-owner/ASenthusiast welcome to attend? I'm planning on making a journey down with my son just to see the action and spend some time with my cousins Dan and Ron. I will, however, have to bring the _____craft. Is everyone cool with that?

On other sites (I wont point fingers) I have seen American Skiers and their owners shuned. I dont want to see that here. Is this site about American Skiers? Yes. Should anyone be pushed away or not welcome due to the fact that they dont own and American Skier? No. In my eyes, if you are here; you are here because you have a passion about ski boats. You are here because you own, have owned in the past, or know someone close to you that has an American Skier or is close to the boats for one reason or another.
The reunion is for fun. It is so passionate people can get together and enjoy the water with one another. Its not to exclude anyone.
These are my opinions. Obviously I am only one forum member but I believe and hope that most on this forum would feel at least close to the same way.
-
With all that being said, make sure that turd isnt in any pictures ;D :o :P
I AM JUST KIDDING OF COURSE

I just took my boat to a CC reunion and if they can be cool with that there should be absolutely no reason we shouldn't be able to do the same. Bring it. Be happy to see it.
-
Just trade with your dad for a weekend.
-
It's a serious consideration at this point. Logistics are the issue. I might ask to see if Dan would be able to help with the transportation in some way.

For sure! Hope to see you guys there!
-
My first inboard was an 86 MC with the big spoiler and net... always a soft spot for them... then again I love just about all true inboard comp skiers from years ago. They are like Harleys, Jeeps and Corvettes, every man has them on their list regardless of their social status or wealth. Funny thing is, even the POS's on the list get looks like the show peices.
-
Alright guys, I have settled on something pretty cool to give out at the reunion. It is not the same as last year, hopefully most will think this is a little cooler.
With that being said........ any designs from the shirt guys yet? Want to match everything but its starting to get close and I want time to do what I gotta do!!!
Let me know
-
Phil & Gonzo, I think Mike needs your help in this endeavor 8)
Everyone, It is with a very heavy heart that I have to bow out this year... :'( The taxman cometh and wiped out what $$ I had saved for the trip to TN... Cant get around it, no funds left after taxes & bills paid, etc... Summer vacation will have to wait a year :(
With that said, I hope ya'all have a FREAKIN' FANTASTIC TIME and take lots of pics to share with those of us who cant attend. It promises to be another great reunion and Buchanans on KY Lake is THE place-to-be in June!! Oh yeah, in regards to the previous question about "other" ski boats... this is like a motorcycle rally - bring what you ride (ski) and have a great time! This reunion is intended for everyone to get together, talk boats, ski our butts off and most importantly to have a great time - no one cares what you ski behind... as long as your NOT wakeboarding... LOL!!!!
I will be at the 3rd Annual Reunion... without a doubt!!

I have 3 awards completed for the reunion! These awards will be given out for 3 categories. 2 are out of anyones control so there is really no prep you can make to receive them....... but 1 I will tell you about so everyone is on their toes!
1 award will be given out as a "Tanis Choice" It will be selected by either Mr. Tanis or Mr. Tanis @/or Mr. Tanis and Mr. Tanis (possibly a few Ms. Tanis's might get in this too?). Clean them boats good boys and girls! If you have a small project or 2 to complete to make it where you think it needs to be, get on it!
I wont say what the awards are, but Ron knows...... and he actually wants one for himself which makes me think they must be pretty cool!!!
-
Chris, let me know how I can help .......... south of Indy to SW MI (or Chicago) to TN and reverse ......... can be a pretty jagged pill
I know as bad as you want the '84 there it may not be worth pain of scrutiny of your 3 older brothers + Mom & Dad...........
we could just put some duct tape over your decals for the weekend :P
Mr & Mrs T X 2 will have a ball going through all of your boats
by the way this Mrs T mentioned the thought of have a potluck dinner or spaghetti supper Saturday night(?) I know we have a grocery list already started

Well all, sorry to say I wont be making it this year. Boat is still without motor, financing is a drag, and the timing due to some personal reasons just sucks. I hope all have a great time of course and I will be thinking of you all.
I have however already met up with Backfoot100 (Eddie). This guy is cool no doubt about it! Didnt get a chance to see his boat but we did meet up so I could drop off the awards and stuff that my mother and I made for the reunion. He will be bringing that stuff along! Someone save me an XXL shirt, Ill pay whatever and have it shipped...............
I hope someone is a designated photo taker, post plenty of pictures of the fun!
-
Sorry to hear about it Mike.
By the way, it was awesome meeting up and having dinner with you and Kelly.
I'll make sure that I get you a shirt and I'll bring it back with me. It'll be a good excuse to get together again to see the boats instead of just dinner.
The awards are VERY COOL guys!!!!! My ski partner is even wanting one and he's a Correct Craft purist.

So my wife and her sister are starting to get the grocery list together. I know that there was something mentioned about a pot luck possibility on sat. night. I guess I'm looking to find out if there is any specific agenda at this point? I would think that it's probably not real structured for the most part but if we're getting together for dinner or a pot luck or anything else in particular I want to plan accordingly. The girls are doing the groceries and the guys are doing the grilling and alchohol. I just need to be able to tell them what the reunion commitments are.
It's getting a lot closer. I'm totally pumped about this!!!! My wife and her sister/hubby are even jazzed about this more than I am. I really didn't think that would be possible. 8)

Hopefully next year Mike! I really appreciate you contributions to the reunion!
We have 7 boats attending so far. We need one more person to bring their boat to double last years number. C'mon all!
-
I'll second Mike's comments... LOTS OF PICTURES are gonna need to be posted when this is done for those of us that cant attend... This is KILLING ME and I know Mike is super depressed about it too... Damn!!!
Hoist one or two cold ones (one beer & one soda) for us! And, take pictures while your doing that too!!! Have fun guys!!

It does suck, but I dont think it will suck nearly as much as it would if I were to come without the Skier.
Thats just my mindset.

I will be leaving Michigan early Friday AM towing the 88 Advance. Will probably arrive late Friday PM. I rented one of the motel rooms, but really wanted one of the cabins. Will be accompanied by my brother Don who also is an 88 Advance owner.
-
Awesome, we're leaving Thursday early AM. Coming from Milwaukee, we'll see you there!
-
We are leaving Thursday morning with the '88 "rescue boat' ready or not, it's getting closer, will be the strangest boat there I'm sure....Upholstery will not be done on time, have new drivers seat & motor box top, with old passenger seat coaming, prototype "Skier-Top" and the best part is that the first time in the water will probably be at the reunion. We are forecasting heavy weather/ rain for the next 4 days down here.
-
The excitement is brewing! if the stars align just right we may see my ski partner and Ron's apprentice from the early 80s bringing down an all original '85 advance.....
Only 3 of us coming down this year and again boatless, leaving here Thursday around 8 am (I'm fairly certain we'll be heading down 57 through IL)
Dan T cell 708-906-5346 we plan on heading back home Tuesday am most likely taking 41 north through Indiana.
the cabins Ron and I have are connected via "den" which can be used as a gathering place Friday night / Saturdayish (?)
Paula had a thought about a potluck or group sit together - last year all of had dinner together in the restaurant.....
so far we're just making a list of must brings and will have a full cooler or 2 of stuff to heat up or grill etc
I'll also have some tools and a few parts with too just in case

We're leaving thursday early (like 3 or 4AM early) with the 'footer following along. Mapquest says 13 hrs. We'll see. Things go well enough I might even be able to get a barefoot run in before cocktails to wind down from the trip. Leaving monday AM to return.
We would definitely be up for a potluck thing on sat. night. That's more conducive for visiting and socialization IMHO.
Like Dan, I'll have some tools. I'm also bringing a 13x12 ACME 541 and a puller. If anyone is interested in trying it out, just let me know.
Coming up 75 through Atlanta and to Nashville. Then whatever to where ever. My cell 407-733-3599.
Definitely getting pumped.

Eddie, I know a few of us are looking forward to some footing runs.. Maybe that burly motor in your barefoot skier wants to pull a barefoot line? That would be awesome.. See you guys soon!
-
Heading down late Friday night after I pick up my son from Boy Scout camp. Unfortunately, my Dad's '84 Delux Skier will not be making the trip. After my Dad had a bad accident (not the boat) in the winter and the reluctancy to let the boat leave his side (can you blame him) we decided this would not be the year to do it. However, I will be bringing my "other" boat that we can use as a courtesy vehicle if needed.
I only have one request while we are down there; I would love to teach my boy how to ski behind one of the best ski boats ever built. We have the ski's, I just will need a willing driver and boat to help out. Willing to pay in food, beverage, gas $, or sweat. We look forward to being there.
-
Chris, you know we have you covered 10X over , and that's just our cabin :)
-
Hey folks! Hope you guys are enjoying the festivities... Post lots of pics when you can... ya know, between skiing runs, footin' classes, eatin' & drinkin' and BSing... ;)
-
Phil, I think its time to take these 2 reunion posts down for the second reunion and its never to early to start thinking about 3rd annual!
-
I will "un-sticky" them so they fall with the rest of the posts. I take that back it already is a non-sticky topic.
-
Believe it or not but I burned through just short of 60 gallons of fuel in footer @ the 2012 reunion :)
that's awesome
