Glove Box Cover in Black
« on: January 24, 2010, 03:18:35 PM »
I'm looking for a Glove Box Cover in black...  Mine is cracked down the middle.  Anybody got an idea where I may find one?  Thanks!

There were a couple different ones used over the years, they are not that expensive & only available as a unit with the box attached to the lid, send me a picture of yours and the cut out dimensions & I'll see if I have one...RonT

Ron,

Not sure if you can make it out or not in this pic - if you click on the pic it will expand considerably.  I'm pulling this description from memory since the boat is in storage until April, but it should be close.  The box is a large rectangle - approx 18" wide (left to right) X 12" (front to back) and approx 4" - 6" deep.  The lid is hinged all the way across the back with a simple push button latch / lock centered on the front.  The lid is a high gloss black plastic and unfortunately looks like it doesnt take much of a push on top to crack it...

Let me know if you have one.  If so, provide a picture so I can verify if its the correct one.  No rush since I wont be back in the boat for a few more months  :(

Ron,
While your looking, see if you have one of these with "American Skier" inmprinted in it (1984). My cover is ok but the box itself has plastic hinges which were broken. I have the lid and the hinge pins but not sure if I could find a box with matching hinge set up. If you have part or a whole kit, please let me know. The box measured 13in outside lip x 5in ooutside lip (lip of the insert)

The common Attwood box has a "rough opening" of 12" x 4.5" which is what yours probably is, these are available at any boat dealer but without the A/S logo, if you want to keep the logo do as Dan said...get creative on fabricating a hinge. If these dimensions are not correct if may be a DetMar box which is very similar but I don't have their dimensions handy.

Ron or Dan,

Were you able to make heads or tails on a possible replacement for my "glove box"???  I think Ron wrote they typically were sold as a one piece unit (box & hinged lid).  Any luck on finding a replacement?  Thanks!
