Boat Cover
« on: July 27, 2016, 09:19:12 AM »
Will need to get a boat cover that is decent for my boat this winter. It will be sitting outside. I dont see an option for a TBX cover on the SKIBOATPARTSONLINE. Anybody know a good option?

Here is the link for the Sharkskin Cover:   http://www.skiboatpartsonline.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=90_91&product_id=369
Here is the link to the Sunbrella Cover:     http://www.skiboatpartsonline.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=90_91&product_id=368

My bad, I left these off when I made some site adjustments a while back.

Thanks for the link ron. Anybody know if the sharkskin is good enough. Just need to keep it dry in the winter while outside. Not trying to spend a bunch on money. I have heard the cheap ($350) covers do the job for a few years. Thats all im asking for.
Thanks

I bought the Sharkskin cover from Ron for my Volante on the theory that I could about buy 2 Sharkskins for the price of one Sunbrella. I've only had it on in spring and summer so far, but it seems to be holding up well. I am hoping that if I add the tiedown straps for winter, it will keep the snow load at bay - but that remains to be seen. The fit has been excellent just below the rub line. Ron convinced me to buy a venting pole for the open bow section, but I did not install it. However, I plan to do so soon. With the walk through wind shield closed, there does seem to be trapped moisture in the bow. Plus the bow pole is just a tad long and is stretching the cover more than I would like. But this is only an issue on an open bow boat.

Just got a reminder email that some of the Sharkskin covers have a price increase 8/1, we'll see which covers it effects on Monday, if your thinking about the Sharkskin Cover (based on your comments this would be perfect) you may want to order this weekend.

What is the real difference in materials? Is it just the shark skin does not last as long? I still need it to be water proof.

They are both waterproof, both are synthetic fabrics, the Sharkskin Plus is a little thinner and stiffer fabric, the Sunbrella is heavier and softer. I have used both but would probably subscribe to the thought of the Sharkskin & plan on replacing it every 5-10 years depending on use & application. proper support to shed rain and not allowing the water to pocket is the biggest thing you can do to prolong the cover.

Ok thanks ron. I will save the cash and get the sharkskin. I probably only need it for a few years. Once We can afford to live without roommates I will get my winter garage spot back.
