Hey Guys! New to the marine world and new to the site. I have been lucky enough to find an '89 American Skier Advance in pretty decent nick and jumped on it for what I felt was a song and a dance. However, as I dig deeper, I am finding some issues. I overlooked an area on the hull under the transom on inspection, and have found an area that looks cracked. Over the crack it looks like spackling (I kid you not). The previous owner said that he had the gel coat redone about 2 years ago (and I believe him), is this how a crack would have been addressed? Also, as I said this is my first boat and my first American Skier; that being said I have some questions about starting/ re-starting the boat. When starting the boat cold I usually pull the trans and pump the gas two or three strokes and the boat fires almost immediately. The problem is on subsequent re-starts, I usually go through the same process, but it seems the engine just cranks and cranks and starts when it finally feels like it. Any input would be appreciated guys!!
