I recently rescued a 1990 Volante from a 6 year "vacation" under an oak tree and quickly becoming "lawn art". I emptied all the leaves & debris, changed the tires, greased the hubs, gave it a once-over, and towed it home for a new life. Sense getting it home I have stripped all the graphics, wet sanded the hull with 800, 1000 & 1500 grit, buffed and waxed the entire hull a few times - what a difference! The last few weeks was devoted to the engine with a new water pump, impeller, starter, alternator, belt, electric fuel pump, fuel filter, cap/rotor, electronic ignition, wires, plugs, coil, oil & filter, cleaned and painted intake manifold, and rebuilt the carb. Fortunately the previous owner had the interior seats all recovered and the carpet replaced (due to stains, I will probably replace the carpet again). Unfortunately, the interior was never re-installed, so I am looking for any guidance/recommendations to putting the seats, fuel tank, etc. back to right way - I do have a box full of parts , but nothing is labeled. I also have a concern that the passenger side floor dips 3/8-1/2" forward and aft of the engine mount and I'm not sure how bad this might be until I do a little more digging. I also have a handful of wires under the dash that say "back of boat" that need to be addressed, but shouldn't be too bad as there really isn't a lot back there. I'm REALLY looking forward to getting this on the water and reliving my youth skiing behind our family's 1987 Advance.
