Those outboard versions were from the Invader Plant in TX, When WESMAR bought A/S in 1991 they moved it from Ocoee Fl., to Cape Coral FL., then to Giddings TX where they built the Invader Recreation boats. I'm sure their marketing guys thought that if they applied the A/S logo's on other "ski-boats" that they produced it would help. The Invader Plant in Giddings TX abruptly shut the plant down in early 1995, shortly after this is when Susan & I went there to buy the original A/S  tooling from WESMAR. What we saw at that plant was scary and depressing. There was a mountain of molds that was was formed with a track-hoe, including the original 18' hull & deck molds that were badly crushed.

I wish mine looked that good! Back in the day ABC's Wide Wolrd of Sports TV show would televise the big water ski events, one of which was the Curt Gowdy Jump Classic. There was another one of these in Essex Il at the ski Site. Hydrodynes were the preferred boats for slalom & jump events because of their wakes & power the boat is under 18' & many were equipped with twin outboards. Mercuriser was one of the sponsors back then & the 'Dyne was the only boat that was powered by a Mercuriser that anyone would ski behind.  I have one of these here that was in need of full restoration, started the project & It is still waiting to get into the shop. Really neat boats, a trip to ride in especially if you have never been in one, if the driver makes a tight turn you won't forget it!
