Dan & Eddie,  I called Shanghai today at Noon - no answer   >:(    I suggest all three of us keep trying to contact them and the first one to get through can buy the beer in June  :)

Seriously, all three of us should keep trying - all were looking for is availability of Inn rooms & Cabins for approximately 40 - 50 people / ten boats (hopefully more) with prices on Father's Day weekend & weekdays.

I know Dan & my families are planning on staying longer (before & after the Reunion).  Its a long haul so we might as well make the best of it!   The water at Buchanan's was absolutely GORGEOUS on the weekdays after all the rec boaters were gone...  well, except the pontoon boat full of college girls sunbathing - for some reason my boat kept drifting over there, but fortunately my 10 yr old son was there to correct the course   ;)

Thanks guys!

I called Shanghai tuesday afternoon and left a message to call me back. To my surprise I got a call last night.

They have three didfferent lodging options:
Motel rooms with two queen beds, a fridge, microwave and coffe pot for $99/night.

1 BR, 1 bath cabins have a queen bed and kitchen for $150/night.

2BR/1.5 bath cabins have three queen beds and sleeper sofa, kitchen, fireplace, washer/dryer, and a patio w/grill for $275/night.

They're about 20 minutes from civilization for food, groceries, and extraciricular activities. They do have a bar/restaurant for some nightlife and several other resorts nearby that offer the same for adventerous boaters as we've seen on the map.

I asked if there was any issue finding good skiing water and she told me that shouldn't be a problem as there are several coves that should be able to provide good water however she did confirm that the main part of the lake does get busy as we've already suspected.

They do have all three lodging options available for fathers day weekend at this point. They also have reduced weekly rates for all three lodging options.

It is an optiion for the North side and probably the most economical option on the north side. So at this point, it's back at you guys for a decision.
When people run down to the lake to see what is making that noise, you've succeeded.

Wow!!!  They called back!!   :)

I say we go for it...  What the hell   8)   It looks nice and two queen beds at $99 a night on the weekend is a good price.  Should work out well for an extended trip with cheaper weekday rates.  The restaurant & bar looks O.K. and I read they have a community BBQ, etc, so we can have a cookout & major BS session  :)   A couple of you guys might want to family-up and rent a cabin as an option.

What does everyone else think?  Dan, Eddie, Mike, Ron, Phil, Gonzo, Paul & Don, etc...  Lets hear it from the rest of the members... at least the ones that are on here in the WINTER   ;)   Speak up before we go and make plans, reservations, etc, at a place that may not meet your needs...   I'd like to hear if you have a better option(s) or have other suggestions to make this a great time!!!

Mike,  Its about time you showed up   :o   ;D   I really like the awards...  Really cool, but they kind of loose thier impact if your not there to present them   :'(   You gotta make it this year so I can buy you a soda and we all can see your boat!!!   We've seen it completely disassembled, dug out, sanded, filled, powdercoated, painted, etc...  Lets see the finished product up close & personal!!

If you bring your Advance that makes EIGHT boats and counting...  If you dont haul it up, your more than welcome to boat, ski, whatever with me & mine in my Advance!   Cant wait brother!!

Hey Joel, what am I, chopped liver ???   Sorry that I have not responded but I have been lurking around just seeing whats going on.  I may not make it this year due to buying a small business here in Ft Myers and that is our busy season.  Hoping I will know around mid to late April.
Eddie, I was meaning to call you and I have no idea where your # went...  I was up your way last month and think I drove through your town on my way to the Orlando airport.

BJ,  Just waiting for you to chime in   :-X   and its about time...   I sure hope you can make it.  You KNOW it wont be as much fun if your not there!

Not many people on here in January/February so I'm just trying to get this thing off the ground with the people that are posting.   What do you think about the lake, location, resort, $$, etc?

Good to hear from you guys!

Mike,
Holy crap where you been????? Nice to see your still OK anyway.
Talking about awards, I still a few of those left from last year that I need to arrange to to get back to you. We'll have to hook up in th enear future to do that.

Joel,
As far as the reunion location, you know my stance. I'd still prefer the south side but if we had to do the north side, Shanghai would definitely be my choice. Either way, I say lets make a go at Norris and see how it turns out.

BJ,
I still have your number and I'm so sorry for not getting in touch with you yet. I'll make it a point to call soon. It would have been cool to see you if you were in the area.  It's been very busy this winter. I won't bore you with the details here but needless to say, I could get a whole new thread started on my exploits since probably late sept. or early oct. last year. It by no means has been boring!!!!

Mike,  I'm putting you down as ATTENDING with the Advance until I hear otherwise   :)   That makes EIGHT boats!!!

We still have a LITTLE time before we need to decide on which Resort although it appears that Norris Lake, TN, is the place to be  :)    Need to get some other members to log on and speak up!!

Am I starting to sound like a cheerleader or what...?

Thanks gentlemen for keeping this alive. As I said before, I'm good to go. The rates seem extreemly reasonable and location appears nice. It's been along time since I've been in fresh water. I too may spend a couple of extra days at the lake since i'll be coming up from Florida and don't mind springing a little extra for one of the 1br cabins. Look forward to seeing all and your boats.

Almost forgot... if Chopped Liver a.k.a. BJ is able to make it to TN then that makes NINE boats!!!   Its really NOT a question...  he'll make it  :)

Still waiting on the rest of you scally-wags!!!  I recommend we start making reservations by mid-Feb at Shanghai Resort.

Just a side note, it appears that there are at least 4 coming from the sunshine state if I am counting right so far. Myself, Eddie, BJ, dwelter............ If we are all rolling up the I75 we should make it a convoy!!! What better way to watch each others backs, and to see 4 Skiers nose to tail running down the highway would be pretty cool as well.

That is of course if all of our travel plans end up being the same or close to the same.........
