My 87 Carrera
« on: May 21, 2012, 09:03:32 AM »
I have a question for Ron.......as I don't see any Carrera's on this forum and have never come across any could you tell me what years and how many were made.  I know they have the Advance hull, but are set up probally for the more recreational skier with the passenger seat and beer cooler.  Who's brain child was this?

thanks

come on Marty........... this was Ron's idea, he was single then
basically the Ferrari (Daytona like Sonny Crocket's) of the waterski world
another rare bird - the Deco (remember Miami Vice was hit show @ the time and Ron loved it)
Deco's were more of a color scheme, pink and teal found in both Carrera and Advance configuration

your boat looks great!

Boat looks awesome, need to bring it down to the reunion. Brother is pretty close to the history of these, I'll take the credit for the Carrera but have to share the credit for the Deco Edition with Ken, he was more smitten with Miami Vice than I was. As to the quantities produced I would guess no more than a dozen for the Carreras, & maybe 20 of the Deco editions. Dan forgot to mention the pink flamingo graphic on the hull side of the deco edition.

That is a very cool looking boat. The center console is a nice touch as well as the front facing passenger seat.

The passenger seat swivels, hence more than one person watching I got the super deluxe boom mount.  Otherwise they set on the floor.

The center console basically rotted so I had to cut about 2" off of the face and did the brushed aluminum face plate and had to modify the ice cooler behind it.

New flooring and carpet - stringers were perfect.  Every year I tell myself I'll get new inrterior.  Same thing this year, maybe next year.

I kinda assumed he passenger seat swivels. It looks coller than a traditional observer seat but not as practical.

The interior looks great. I wouldn't worry about that at all unless it gets considerably worse.

Nice touch with the console and the abrushed aluminum.
What's the smaller rectagle thing in the lower left corner of the dash? I can't quite make it out.

I love these rare finds.  What I would do to get my hands on a Carrera or a Deco AS.  Those are classics!!!  In fact, if any finds one of these rare beauties for sale then let me know.
