My American Skier story
« on: March 28, 2012, 09:43:18 PM »
Hey all new to the site but here is my story behind my American Skier. We are the third owner of this beauty, we bought it from a good family friend who bought it from the original owner. The original owner was Herb Obrien of HO Skis. He has it on his private waterski lake, Radar lake, here in Washington from 89-91. My dads buddy bought it and it basically collected dust in his shop. We bought it from him in 03 and have had it since. It is an 89 Advance that is COMPLETELY ORIGINAL. It has 457 ORIGINAL hours. The interior, floor, dash everything is in perfect condition. No rips, tears, cracks, stains, fading, nothing at all. the gel coat is perfect too. No fading or cracks and always waxed 4 times a year. It has the original shield graphic on the side, and the under bow storage. I hear the under bow storage is rare on these. It also sits on an original American Skier trailer in good condition. Here are the few pics i have, i will get some more soon. Maybe Ron will recognize this boat? Thanks!

Yes I do!! (the HO graphics were added out there, not at A/S) I remember it because when we were negotiating the deal I told him of my old original O'Brien wood slalom that had received nasty handle dings to the front from a friend who was visiting & said he "knew how to ski" & which I loaned him only to get it back all scarred up.  I told him I really needed a 70" ski instead of the 68" I had been using. Herb said he had a rare 70" wood slalom in his personal collection that he made for himself, he no longer uses it so he sent it to me. That ski still stands in the corner of my office as a reminder of the good ol  days.

All closed bow A/S boats have access under the bow, the amount of access and or door size is what changed over the years getting bigger & better each year.

That's a sweet boat, And I think the HO Skis graphics is awesome. Big fan of HO and obviously A/S. Nice to have you on the webpage and another classic story from Ron.
