ski racks

We have a very clever bunch here so here it goes.....  I am a skier. I might tease wakeboarders a bit but have no major beefs with them as they are looking to have fun just as I am.  Yes I get annoyed when a wakeboard boat makes a guest appearance at 7:00AM but I get over it.  With that said, I have no intentions of putting a tower on my boat.  I can't say it will never happen but as for now, no.

I hate skis on the floor of the boat.  It has driven me nuts since day one.   Has anyone looked at the tower mounted ski racks and tried to come up with a way to mount them ? somewhere??? on a boat without a tower.  Right now I am considering something like this scenario.  Something like another pylon or some other vertically mounted pipe behind the driver's seat, putting some padding around the base of the pole, pipe, whatever for the butts of the skis to sit on, then mounting the rack so the skis are upright. 

I have contemplated how to do this since 1999.  It's time to start putting plans on draft paper and coming up with a solution. 

Think about it, post any ideas you might have.

I don't know who supplied them or how they mounted, but Ski Nautique had fold out racks that mounted under the sides and held 2 or 3 skis.  I'm sure they were aftermarket but I don't know who made them.

I found a thing called the Ski Tree.  It's a possibility.  Our one local marina was Nautique then went to Malibu.  I will ask them about the CC racks.

easiest way to clear the skis out of the boat .............. BAREFOOT!

then you'll only have 100 lbs of wetsuits, shorts, heater shirts, gloves, ropes and handles on the floor!

Dans not joking about the amount of gear barefooters use, in the good ol days a slalom, a trick ski, vest & pair of gloves was all I needed.

Well, the Sport Nautique that I helped the neighbors find has the Correct Craft fold out ski racks that mount to the sides.  I am going to trace it in cardboard and give it to daughter's boyfriend to CNC for me.

Hey Chris, Id be dang interested in seeing a picture of this gizmo! I might be more interested in purchasing one if you can get your Daughter's cousins nephue brothers uncle to make two of them if the price is right

No room in the AS Pro (TBX) for the SN racks.  We are looking at using the ATV gun racks in some fashion.

no room in a TBX fro ski racks(?) considering the TBX is the WIDEST boat amskier built (other than the eagle and Comanche) and the narrowest motor box foot print
you actually have plenty of room to work with by 1970's standards......... I don't think I've ever seen ski racks installed in boats actually ever used....... well my be in my Dad's Nautique back in
'75....... it had a finished shelf that stuck out mid freeboard and was closed off from the shelf edge to the floor it also narrowed the floor space between the motor box and side by a good 4-6 inches
another style I have noticed I believe was installed in a volante..... sort of along the gun rack style only instead of drop in slots for both the front and rear "bracket" actually  cut out from 1/2" composite
one end has closed end slot or oval opening, you stick you ski tip in that "hole" and drop the rear of the ski in the drop in slot of the other bracket, it gets the ski off of the floor, but you still have the binding to content with........(back in the 70's, we didn't have much a a high wrap yet) current racking is all hung off of a tower.  We typically pile most of our stuff on the floor behind the drivers seat, and dig out what we need as we change skiers, and we bring with more than just our BF suits, depending on the session we'll have a wakeboard or 2, a slalom or 2 with double highwraps, maybe a kneeboard, wake skis, a step off ski or 2 or 3,  plus our vests and wetsuits, the boom is usually on the floor on the passenger side

Chris,

I'm with Mike... some pics would be cool.  There arent many options other than a bottom combing (which takes up floor space, but good for vests, etc and maybe one ski).  If there are other options I'd like to see what one looks like so I can figure out if something similar might work in my Advance.
