The 350 stocker is running. Good pressure, sounds good....... a little valve adjustment today, some time on the motor to seat the rings and an oil change and Ill be ready for the break in period on the lake. Wish me luck.

Ron, just for you...... yes sir my old pulley must have been bent. After machine work on the new pulley for size my raw water pump hardly moves. It sits in tight quarters with only 1/16th of an inch to wobble but after bolting it down there is not wobble or play. Very pleased with those results.

Now only if the motor is that tight!

She is running out pretty well. Didnt want to put a huge strain on the fresh bottom end the first time on the lake so I only ran it up around 2500rpm max........ but it sounds good and pulls to 2500 with no issues although Im sure its not going to turn up as well as I would want it to. This is however the "get me by" motor until I put together the other Vortec block. Hopefully I will get the rest of this season and all of next season out of this one without any issues.

Just got this one in and its already time to start the other block prep  ;D

Well I'm a PORSCHE guy...  it hurts me working on all this stuff   :o   Although my 928's 5.0 liter engine is based on a 302 c.u...  it just happens to be made completely of aluminum and magnesium/alluminum alloys.  You DONT want to over torque ANYTHING...  Wrench, wrench, wrench... SNAP!... is not a sound you like to hear  :(

Seriously, when we start getting into the motor past the intake, timing belt, water pump and valve covers then I'm a fish out of water...  Fortunately, my Ford 351 hasnt given me two seconds of grief... EVER!!!   Knock on wood!!!!

Joel, good news sir....... the last part of your package will finally be in Friday of this week. I will get a gift wrapped box out to you most likely on Monday morning.

The boat is running out well. Got about 5 hours on the new motor with break in RPM's, now its time to seat the rings and run her full bore around the lake once or twice (wish me luck). I put the motor together with a moly lube that I am not all impressed with....... it was supposed to melt away into the oil and come out in the first oil change. Well, it clogged the damn filter and my pressure dropped off a bunch at about 2.5 hours. Changed the oil and pressure is 40 to 60 psi and 25 at idle so I am a happy camper again, but I guess its time to go back to the tried and true white lithium grease assembly lube Im used to using cause that moly shit aint never going back in a motor I build again.

For Monday Ill be putting the rear floor section and rear seat back in the boat and Im going to finally put the finished motor box cover in the old girl. Looks like the tune and adjustment period are about over (again). Plan on putting her through the paces on Labor Day!

Same here...  looks really nice!  I really like the "naked" motor box with the matching stripe paintjob... schweeet!!!

Speaking of seeing her in person...  where are we having the next reunion?  Guess I better go over to the other thread and stir the pot   :P
