Have to say, love the Comanche I just bought.  We finally got to spend some time running up and down the CT river on it - what a great boat!  Good acceleration, handles good, rides good, fast, sounds good...maybe a little loud - the stock muffler (huge rubber hose baffle thing) came with the boat but had been removed and replaced with straight hose.  Nice and quiet when below the water line but when out of the water and on plane...for the love of all that is holy is it loud.  Think I might put the muffler back on...once I get tired of being obnoxious, that is.

When I was "courting" my wife Susan she wanted to go out on the lake with her mom & dad in one of our boats to show her parents what it was that I build, so naturally I didn't take an Advance, no, I took a new red & white Commanche (with working silencers) out to the Butler Chain of Lakes in Windemere Fl. were the rich & famous live in Orlando. In all honesty I think it was the boat that helped "land" the whole marriage  ;D

Well, now we know why you want a red one.  Come to think of it, pretty sure it was my '88 Advance that sealed the deal for my wife.

Was wondering...just how much quieter will the silencer make it?

What I would look into is a "captains choice" type of exhaust, simply a valve that switches from through-prop exhaust to side hull exhaust allowing you to choose either quiet or loud.
