New Woo
« on: July 25, 2011, 01:50:15 PM »
Well, I finally pulled the trigger and bought the Comanche.  You might have seen it on Craigs List awhile back...yes, it came all the way from Oregon.  It has the 454 w/ the Volvo Penta dual prop - haven't had it in the water yet but can hardly wait to see how she runs.  One or two cosmetic items that I'm aware of - sagging headliner in the cuddy and the floor around the driver's seat is a little soft.  I'm sure I'll be able to eventually replace the floor but the headliner...don't know the first thing.  Ron/Dan, if you're listening, any suggestions?  Most American Skiers I've seen don't have headliners!  Now, whatever shall I name this one...?

I didn't see that one!! That's on my top 3 list to own, there's a red one out there somewhere with my name on it. BTW the volvo duoprop was the best performer over the Merc. maybe a MPH slower but much sweeter wakes, rooster tail & acceleration, looks like your's even has the side exhaust. Only thing I see missing from the pics is the outdrive top cover & the teak swim platform top "seat cover" Headliners are easy, DIY or let an automotive headliner shop re-glue it. GREAT FIND

Ron
There is a red one that pops up on the chicago craigslist post.  Says it needs work, I don't remember what though, $3000.00.  I think the listing was actually for swmichigan.

Sorry, it's an Eagle not a Comanche.  Says it needs motor work 454.

The teak swim platformcame with it, just not installed.  Honestly, I wasn't quite sure where or how it attached.  I get to play with it this weekend though, so I hope to figure everything out.

I did see the Eagle, if I thought my Envoy would tow it I think I'd have to get it, looks like a bargain for someone, if Susan new I was thinking about adding another A/S to our collection I'd be cut-off until something sold.  ???

Driving the boat isn't the scary part it the trailering for us guys used to smaller ski boats that intimidated me, when you look in the rearview mirror there's alot of boat back there! Once she's in the water she will be fine.
