Windshield trim
« on: April 25, 2016, 01:37:28 PM »
Mine was broken in a spot and was super dry and brittle. I needed to pull it out to tighten the windshield. It broke even more when I took it out. Can I still get this stuff anywhere. I dont see it on the parts site.

Ive searched for this stuff everywhere. Its one part of my boat that is incomplete that I wish was (not that its the only part that's incomplete).

I haven't been able to find anything just like it anywhere.

I think ski nautique uses a piece of foam I thought about trying. I dont care if it is the same just if something is there.

The company who made the older windshields is long gone out of business and these trim pieces were custom made for them. What I do in my shop is use black foam weatherstrip, 1/2" thick and press it into the extrusion. I try to find the one that has a smooth side and put that outside.

Hi, I have just noticed this thread in relation to the windscreen trim.. If it helps I have attached my invoice from Taylor Made Systems, who I contacted back in 2012 and they supplied me with the identical trim that was on my 1988 Advance. Good luck :)

Back to the top with this one.  Any new or more info on replacement trim for the windshield?  Ron, any more details on what you have been using?

Thanks,

Brian Anderson

Taylor Made is very difficult to deal with, they don't return calls, and unless you are ordering 100 windshields they don't want to talk to you. I have used black foam tape from Lowes, it has a shiny side that goes faces out, and carefully trim to fit with a razor blade.
