Mystery Switch

Not sure about the rest of the guys here, but I'm a button pusher, even if it's bright red with warnings, I gotta push it! So here's my question of the day, what's this switch for? It's a momentary button, but there's a separate horn button, so I'm clueless. Mechanic asked me also, it looks like original equipment but has no wires connected to it. Any takers?

Not an OEM location, thats a "no cut/drill" zone on the deck to maintain structural integrity of the dash. The only "extra" switches on that model were installed on the drivers side above the throttle area for the ballast tank & that would be a DPDT not a momentary switch, and came with a decal explaining its operation. Looks like someone added this but i'm not sure what an additional momentary switch would be used for.

I thought the same thing, don't really know what it would be for. But since the hole's already cut I'm going to try and find a standard on/off switch of matching style for some auxiliary lights. Thanks for the info!

While I'm on the topic, I've got kind of a dumb question; My speedo's didn't work this past summer, located a ground issue so they should be back online. I was wondering about the two buttons below each, think they have to do with calibrating, what's the process with using them?

I have an assortment of the OEM switches here if you need one, the momentary switches below the speedos on your boat are to adj. the speedos. This is a required element from the old days when dual speedos were used in tournaments and were required to be adjustable. We used to calibrate them by timing through the slalom course. Now most of these boats are used for recreation skiing so speedo accuracy is not as critical. Today most simply run across the lake with a portable GPS and set the speedos to the GPS reading (use 35mph) for non-tournament use.

Your boat has an MDC controlled digital instrument system, ALL the gages share the same serial bus, you could actually unplug and swap  the oil pres. gage wire plug for the speedo plug & everything will work fine. The speedo adj. switch wiring goes directly back to the MDC and adjusts the signal internally for the stepper motors in the gages.

So what you're saying is I could've saving time and not labeled all the wiring when I replaced all the gauges..*noted*!

Good to know on the speedo's, I'll get my eTrex out this summer.

I'm putting together an order from your parts list you compiled. Would be interested in a couple switches, an on/off to replace that one discussed, and maybe two replacements for the speedo adjustments as they're pretty weathered. You also mentioned having some assorted new steering wheels, any chance there's one to replace mine, with hub?
