Hello....
Thanks to the Admin for accepting my request.  I have browsed the site and have found lots of great information and I thank all who have contributed.

I recently acquired a 1979 American Skier 18' in respectable condition.  There are several things I still dont know but look forward to working with the group.

I slapped some pictures and comments on a webpage and will update the information as I become more educated.

Nice to meet all of you :)

Awesome looking boat Charlie, looks like you have many hours of discovering the legend of American Skier ahead of you and why they are so highly regarded. The information and Members on this forum will become invaluable to you as they have for me, welcome.

Thank you all for the warm Welcome, and thanks to RonT and Dan T for the additional email support they have provided!!

I basically paid $3K for this, well I actually took this in trade for money that was owed to me that I knew I would never see.  Dont know much about these boats but im learning they have quite the following.  I skied for many years behind different boats and drank tons of water but never behind one of these.  That was 30 years ago. At 52, im not sure I can I could do it again but I wont mind just cruzin around in something that looks cool.

The mountain lake where I plan on using this most has an annual classic boat weekend.  Im not sure this qualifies but plan on having it out there.

What you have Charlie is a sports car on water, you may start to find the need for, tuning, changing, renewing, waxing, all things related to a finely tuned sports car and of course cruising in a inboard is like no other. I will bet even at 52 you start looking at the odd ski with wanting eyes, have fun.

Welcome Charlie.
Wow, awesome boat. I've never seen a ski rack like that but it is soooooo cool. Not very practical but sooooo cool!
The rear seat arm rest/cup holders/speaker boxes are a home made add on that I'm sure is not a factory option.
The boat is in really nice shape though. Nice find. Congrats. You'll love driving it even if you don't ski anymore. Who knows, it might make you want to strap one on again after so long.

Enjoy.
When people run down to the lake to see what is making that noise, you've succeeded.
