beaching
« on: January 15, 2015, 01:01:56 PM »
Firstly, happy New year all.  Now  I am exceptionally cautious when it comes to the underwater hardware on my Legend but I am seeing more and more ski and wakeboard boats (ski nautiques and mastercraft) and even a few photos of AS on this site beaching and was wondering how strong our fins are.  Is it safe to beach the boat if the fins hit/bury into a bit of sand?

You don't normally beach it far enough up to get the fins into the sand. I beach mine all the time and there is absolutely no evidence you'll ever find from it. I let it coast on just enough to keep it there but that depends on the shore too. It doesn't have to be on it very far. I swear I've seen guys power up on sand like they were trying to drydock it.
When people run down to the lake to see what is making that noise, you've succeeded.

Cheers backfoot100.  Yes, I have seen a few wreckless boat owners on my waters also...  The beach we camp at has a fairly low gradiant so getting it close to shoreline does mean that the fins will catch a bit of the sand gradiant so I guess I'll just go with trial and error and continue to be cautious... Cheers.
