Tribute to my dad!
« on: September 21, 2010, 08:12:10 PM »
Just wanted to take the opportunity to remember my father.  He bought my American Skier back in 1987 and he passed away from cancer in 1990.  During the years he was alive we shared the best years of my life on the lake with each other and that boat.  If it wasnt for that boat I would not have been able to share those memorable moments with my dad!  Now the boat is mine and I cant wait to share the boat with my kids which I hope to have some day soon.  So this one goes out to my dad and that old 83 American Skier he loved so much!!!

I'm with ya on that...  I'm hoping my son and daughter looks at it in the same light a few years from now...  :)

My dad now has my first boat, a 1977 AS.  He came up today to help me do bearings in my trailer.  He had always had IO's.  When I bought the AS, he immediately fell in love with it and would take it on vacation each year (they were there two weeks, I was only there one).  More to the story but it's nice that we have this in common.

I agree with Joel...hoping my kids look back on the fun we had on the boat as something to remember.

We share our cottage with my parents and get all three generations up there from time to time and my parents help with the kids on the training skis - it's awesome.  I have great memories from being a kid on the lake with my family and hope to pass the tradition down.

We replaced my Dad's I/O with the American Skier this summer and it has enhanced the experience tremendously.  I need to check the t-shirt posts as I'd like to get everyone an AS t-shirt for x-mas - I've already mentioned this and my 6 and 8 year old are stoked about it - they're girls and they love the slalom girl logo.

Thanks for sharing John - and cheers to your Dad!
