1986 Advance, what is my prop shaft size? Im looking into getting the dripless shaft seal system...... I guess I need to know the size of the stuffing box hole as well (or whatever its is called)
Thanks for any help.

most were 1" use a caliper to measure it to be sure
also check the #s stamped on your prop most likely you will see 13x13 x1" LH
or 13 x 13 x 1 1/8" (if you see this you have an 1 1/8" shaft not 1")

10-4, how about the other size? Any idea on that? Do I need to take off what I already have to find out? I was wanting to get the new part in before I took the old part off........

I purchased a dripless system, now lets see if its all its cracked up to be.
Where should I route the water injection from? Intake manifold?
-
When a customer insists on having one of these I prefer to tap into the pressure side of the raw water pump before it goes into the engine, the object is to cool & lubricate the seal, so using the coolest water is preferred.

Would pulling the threaded plug on the recirc pump work? I would hate to drill and tap the pump itself.......
Or should I cut the hose between the raw and the recirc and place a T with adapters as needed?
-
Didnt that damn thing come with instructions??? I'd go back to the manufacturer for assistance. If they dont know (or are no help) I'd send it back for a refund... Your stock packing gland will suffice for YEARS and they dont need to drip so much as to cause any issues in the bilge :)

Easy big boy, its not here yet........ being shipped in. Just wondering how Ron does it.
I mean just cause your mad at me cause I'm not going to make the reunion :'( you jump all over me ;D
-
Yeah.... thats it!!!! >:( Leave me to run the whole thing by myself... :'( I mean, what is UP with that!!!!????!!!!????
Seriously, I was thinking you had it in your hands with no directions. I'm sure all your questions will be answered upon arrival :) If not, send the damn thing back and get a refund... Oops... must've been my inside voice sneaking out again... ::)

Is there a set screw on the shaft to tranny coupling that I am not seeing? Just trying to cover all bases before the install next week. If there is one, I cant see it, i guess I would have to take the paint off.......
-
figure out this way
Or should I cut the hose between the raw and the recirc and place a T with adapters as needed?
or better yet study the water flow from the raw water pump to X
then to Y
I have seen these things installed several ways
the quickest but the least desirable is directly from an exhaust manifold drain
or read the instructions again ;D

Ok, seal installed. Called company and they stated any water except exhaust was good, so I put a fitting in the recirc pump because there was easy access where a plug was.
We shall see what happens. The job was much easier than I expected. With 2 people, 1 outside the boat and 1 in it was a breeze.

See... I told you it would all come out just fine!!! What??? That wasnt me??? Well, I SHOULD have said it... 8)

Seal worked perfectly, and so did the engine oil leak fix. ;D
Happy Day! Happy Day!
Almost no water in the bilge now, found some drips coming from the rudder shaft base (hoping I can loosen the bolts enough to lift it, clean out from under it and 5200 under) then re tighten.......
