Title: Shirts
Post by: chrisheile on December 17, 2009, 07:50:43 PM
I got the graphic done and printed a few transfers to try on shirts tomorrow.  A friend of mine has a press.  I'll keep you posted but we should be close.

I did a test run of 4 shirts today.  Need to do a bit more cleaning up of the graphic but I should soon be able to begin taking orders.

I have some photos up so take a look and start giving me an idea of how many of what size you will be interested in.  I plan to clean up the image a bit more and cut it the graphic out of the tranfer so it does not show on the shirt.  I'm thinking we'll be around $12.00 per shirt and less if shipped in quantities.

I think it looks pretty good. I think it would look even better if the lettering was on the bottom or the top but not in the image. I'm still all for "Inboard Competition Ski Boats"  That says most of it right there...

How many did you get made?

I have a guy cleaning up the graphic right now.  Pretty much stuck with it.  I only ran 4.  One for me and my ski buddy, the others for my dad and nephew for Christmas.  I hope to have Xerox do the transfers.

Dip,

There are a few pics in the photo gallery. Here is a direct link to one of them: http://velvet1.homeip.net:8080/~amskier/forum/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=media;id=199;preview (http://velvet1.homeip.net:8080/~amskier/forum/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=media;id=199;preview)

Sorry, not paying attention.  Australian Open's over now so I'll be on more.  My buddy's transfer press ended up not being his after all.  The owner he borrowed it from a year ago came and picked it up at his place of business last week.  Has anyone used an iron to do this?  If so, how well did it work.

Joel, I tried to set it up so that link will take you right to the site, with the shirt design loaded up, that way anyone can purchase as many as they like, makes it easier when it isn't a group purchase. Came out to about $30 a shirt, a little steep, but even in bulk its still over $20 apiece.

Let me know if for some reason it won't work that way, there's an option to email the saved design also.

I couldn't find a similar font for the American Skier print, so I photoshopped one of Ron's logo's. If you look close there is a black background on that image, they should make note and take that background out, that way when the shirt fades its not contrasting. May need to mention that when you order.

I made 2 shirts tonight (actually a hoodie and a shirt) for Rob Bird.  The image turned out much better than those in the photos.  Please send me a PM  from this site if you are interested.   I have requests in Facebook, private messages on this site and in this forum.  I'm not organized enough to follow all of those locations.

If there is any voting involved. I vote for the classic hott chick rounding the bouy on my shirt. The original logo is classy and historical plus it's on the boat we have sitting in the garage....Jas

Chris,

How much for a shirt?  How much for a hoodie?

Thanks!

When Michael's has sales, I can get the Tshirts for $2.00 to $2.50 and the hoodies for around $7.50.  Here is the breakdown.
Shirts $2.50 or close to that if they are not on sale
Hoodie $7.50 (not sure what they are when not on sale)
Transfer and ink $3.00
Shipping $7.50 to $10.80
In addition I've been adding $1.00 to cover the cost of making and sending shirts for Dan and Ron.

Here is another option.  I can send you the touched up image and you can buy a package of transfers for $20.00, a few shirts and do them yourself.  I am asking or the buck to send the image so i can cover shirts for Dan and Ron.

Rob Bird should have his by now.  I am not sure if he is on this site but he is for sure on Facebook.  You can check with him to see how he liked them.

By the way, the image is the skier girl and says "American Skier Ski Boat Extraodinaire".  There is a less refined one in the photo gallery here with a blue background.  I thought I had sent up photos of shhirts I had done for myself but cannot find them now.  I prefer to use the cream color shirt but can do white. I have some cream color shirts here.  I have to go shopping to get other colors.  I can only do light colors.  They make a different transfer for dark shirts.

Chris,

Sounds good to me...  You can add a couple of bucks on my order for Ron & Dan.  I've gotten more info & advise from these guys than I could EVER pay for  :)

I'll send you a PM with my order request.

Thanks again!

Did 4 shirts for Mike Heasley, 2 for BeachPinko and printed transfers for Joel.  Dropped a note to AmericanSkierJim as well.  Have I missed anyone else?  If so, drop me a PM.

Chris,

I ironed-on the AM Skier Slalom Girl transfers on two yellow T-Shirts and one gray Hoodie.  They were very easy to do and turned out really good :)  Let me know if you do any other transfers, especially if you do the other red, white & blue AM Skier Shield.  Thanks again!  Joel

ALSO>>>> If i get the embroidered logo, what is the concensus? On the back (larger) or smaller like a left pocket logo?  Maybe I can get both??

I'll try to take / post a picture of the shirts / hoodie.

I vote for both... "American Skier" on the front (over the pocket) and a larger image on the back  :)

I made arrangements for Lake Erie Embroidery to take over shirts.  They can also do hats, hoodies, whatever you can embroider the logo on.  They can do it with or without the lettering.  Their website is is listed under links on the home page of our site www.amskierboats.com .   This is an honest business and they produce a nice product.  I have asked them to join the site as well.

I went on their site and couldnt find the design. I dont know if they just have not had time to upload it  yet or not or if it somewhere among the thousands of designs they already have. If and when they do get it up on the site, if they could let us know where it is located so we could all look at it, that would be good.

Im thinking about getting one or two myself ;)

Thanks for the shirts Chris Heile! I finally got around to gettin Dear old Dad his shirt. His reply over the phone was, A tear came to his eye then he remembered the last time he was cutting from 3 to 4 with some line off at 36 mph. Wipe out, blown back at some Penn/Ohio tournament. That was the last time he skied for the glory. LoL!!! I see Erie print shop has picked up the task of printing. Some hoodies are in order. Thanks again...Jason

I just put this design together at customink.com:
https://www.customink.com/designs/slgrlfinal/xgk0-000g-sg9r/retrieve (https://www.customink.com/designs/slgrlfinal/xgk0-000g-sg9r/retrieve)

They are supposed to take the text out of the logo before printing.  If they send me a proof of that I'll post it.

How are you getting these shirts made? I really like the old logo and will buy one of those shirts, but I would like one with my logo on it.... the Advance log where the boat is in the middle of the shield not the girl....

I'd like one with the boat logo too.  Did you ever get a decent shot of that logo?  If so, shoot it over to me and I'll re-do that shirt with the boat logo and post the link.  It's pretty easy at customink.com - you just upload your graphics and then give them a call for assistance if there's clean up needed.  You can take that one I made and move the stuff around or add your own graphics, text, etc.

Ive got a really good picture of it on my original paperwork for the boat, but its not in color..... just an outline

Would that work?

I am not an expert on this stuff by any means - not sure if they can add the color to the logo or not.  It would certainly be easier if we had a clean clear shot of the color logo.  It may have to wait until I pull mine out of storage in spring to get a photo though...

For the slalom girl logo I used a photo from the site here in the media section.  They took that and removed the background and the text.  It looks great.  The "American Skier" font is an issue though as it's not a standard font and for some reason they couldn't use the exact font in the attachment I sent (it wasn't high enough resolution is what they told me?) - still waiting for the final proof to see how it ends up.
