Good work to those involved with this planning. Right now I am saying probably not but if things get better, perhaps. Thank you,

I'm in for the 18th, let's try and get this locked in so everyone can change reservations.
-
We're in. No preference in which weekend...just as long as we have enough time to schedule it.
Mike, Laurie, Wyatt (2 yrs), and Hemi (the dog).
-
Is anyone interested in the first week of August. The lakes start to settle down from the summer vacationers. This is my first choice as it will allow for my brother with another Amskier to come as well. So first pick is first week of August, 2nd pick is July. June is out for me.
If first week of August = 2 boats + 4 adults + 5 kids.
July = 1 boat + 4 kids.
-
I'm in for June 17, 18 & 19 (Fri, Sat & Sun) three nights... Ron, the weekend of June 11/12 is booked SOLID... :(
I guess I'm the unofficial reunion planner, along with one or two others... Once we figure out the dates (should be by this Sunday), I'll contact the Resort to see if they have a party room or other accomodations we can rent for an evening with some light refreshments & BYOB, etc. Other than that, this isnt going to be anything fancy since its our first outing, but it should be a blast with a bunch of AM Skiers on the lake, great boating & skiing, comraderie, checking out eachothers boats, hopefully we can con Ron & Dan to answer tech questions (hint, hint) and we'll all get to meet eachother in the flesh... WARNING!! I aint pretty ;)
Even with just a handful of boats, this is probably the largest gathering of AM Skier boats in a very very long time - should be interesting for all of us and the other boaters on the lake :)
Thanks to all who have responded so far! I think we have SIX to date. Keep writing in, include the weekend of choice, and I'll try to keep count...
-
In, probly 2 possibly 4 people. Date: who cares as long as you get it to me fast enough I can get approval from work.
-
Were up to EIGHT confirmed attendees plus spouses, kids, guests, etc... Wooooo Hooooo!!!! The weekend of June 17th - 19th looks like the overall favorite by a wide margin. I'm gonna go ahead and make the call to the resort that we'll be there on that weekend.
If you plan on attending June 17th - 19th (or some combination) PLEASE REPLY to this sticky so I can continue to keep track of who's coming & get an overall head count. EVERYBODY go ahead and make your reservations directly with Buchanans Resort! They are first come / first served.
See the link for Buchanan's Resort @ http://www.parislanding.com/buchanan/index.htm (http://www.parislanding.com/buchanan/index.htm)
I love it when a plan comes together!!!! ;D

This place is booking up FAST as it is a company & corporate favorite!!!! TODAY, the owner of Sonic Restaurants booked up all the waterfront suites...
Currently they have the following accomodations:
Three - 2 bedroom suites ($170), One - 3 bedroom suite ($195), One - 4 bedroom lodge ($160 + additional $$ per persons), One standard cottage ($89) & all motel rooms ($69)...
The three bedroom suite & the lodge are perfect for sharing (if you know each other well enough) & split the costs :)
Make your reservations ASAP!!!

Are there camp sites available too? That may be an option for some people who like to camp.
-
Good question!!! Buchanan Resort features three different campgrounds, all located right on the water's edge at Kentucky Lake.
Each campground offers complete camping facilities and are within walking distance of the many other resort amenities. Each campground features shaded level lots right beside Kentucky Lake and convenient boat launching ramps. Nightly, monthly and seasonal rates are available. Services offered include:
- 50 amp service
- Water
- Modern bath house
- Grills
- Picnic tables
- Pavilion
- Dumping station
- Some sites offer sewage hookups
Seasonal Rates for RVs range from 1200.00 and up depending on the specific location. Daily rates are $20/per camper, with $2 charge for each additional person.
Give them a call now and reserve a spot for your next Kentucky Lake Vacation!

Damn... I'm good ;)
Keep replying and make those reservations ASAP!!! Come on everyone lets boat, ski & party on KY Lake!!! :)
-
Sounds like a great time, but we will not be able to make it our son is getting married that weekend. Hopefully next year..
-
Were trying to get as much participation as possible this first year... a dozen AM Skiers on the lake would be a great start :) We're gonna work on a boat tech & maintenance session (if I can talk one of the Tanis' to talk shop over a cold adult beverage - I'll buy ;) Maybe pull my boat out of the water to use as an example of what NOT to do to your boat/trailer and how to fix it!!! This site is great, but its nothing compared to one on one sessions with pros...
This will only get better & better each year... :)

That's the way I see it joel, this is just a dry run for the future. Don't get me wrong I think fun will be had by all in it will be a great time but this will just lead to bigger and better things in the future.

Confirmed Ron made our reservations this morning, we should be arriving mid afternoon Friday June 17 and plan on heading back Sunday (so far)

Mike, I agree totally... As with anything new there is a break-in period required :) We've actually got a pretty good turnout for a 1st Annual anything since a lot of us have to travel quite a distance to get there - I'm completely stoked!
Dan, Thats great! Both the Tanis' in the same spot at the same time... this could be AM Skier history in the making!!! :) If either of you (or anybody else for that matter) have any spare parts, stickers, decals, posters, hats, beer ( I mean pop ) holders, odds & ends, etc, that you'd like to donate to the cause I'm sure I can figure out a way to raffle them off or use as door prizes :) I'm always working an angle ;)
I'll be there on Friday as well. I'll try to get us some slips next to eachother (if possible) so we can show off the old girls :) Glad you guys are gonna be able to make it... Looking forward to meeting the familys and doing some skiing :) I hope my boat runs as well this Spring as it did last Fall :)

Looks like were leveling off at EIGHT! For those of you still undecided, or anyone that doesnt want to tow a boat 800 miles, dont worry!!! We'll have plenty of boats to ski, board & tube behind... If you just wanna pleasure boat I'm sure we can accomodate that as well :) Come on down and enjoy the sun & have some fun :)
Wow! I just realized I'm starting to sound like Julie the Activity Director on the Love Boat... Where's Gopher when I need 'em ;)
-
I'm going to try to make it guys! but I cant say for sure because of work. Its only about 2 hrs from me so I may just come over on sat.
-
Daveo, That'll work!!! And, that makes NINE!!! ;D
For everyone who is bringing a boat (which should be most of us) - please let me know two things:
1. What type & length of boat - 19' Advance, 24' Eagle, 25' Commanche, etc... AND,
2. If you'd like to rent a covered slip - ya never know about Mother Nature...
The slips are $14.00 a night & include power (not a bad investment IF it rains) and you wont have to pull it out of the water every evening... I'll try to get them next to eachother on the same dock / pier if possible.
Thanks,
Joel a.k.a. Julie the Activities Director ;)
-
Cabin reserved for new dates, awesome!
I have a slip reservation in place already, but if you have any luck getting them docked next to each other mine is reserved under Brandon Keehr.
A question was raised about dog kennels in the area. I live in Clarksville, which is southeast of the lake about an hour. The kennel we use is nice, but it does not offer pickup on Sundays, if you are staying til then shoot me a pm and I'll send you the link. The kennel is right off I-24, which if you're headed up from the south you'll pass right by it.

Im still on the fence at this time. Boat interior is completely out getting redone, made it 19 yrs with original(early April return). I am trying to decide if I should redo the floor and carpet while its out cause I have a few soft spots plus all of the decklid floatation foam under the frontend has come loose so I am trying to figure out what to do about that.
If all goes well, boat should be done way before reunion and I will be there.

Brandon, Sounds like a plan - I'll see if that'll work.
BJ, Dont worry - everything will work out just fine!! ;D Let me know if you decide to come up as you'll be # TEN!!!! ( I'm tryin' to keep track :) Looks like a good showing of boat owners & enthusiasts, not to mention families & friends - should be a good time :)

Looking more and more like I'm going to make it..
-
Looking more and more like that'll be ELEVEN!!!! ;D
Very cool!!! Looks like were gonna have a great turnout!!!
-
So who will be so nice as to help us replace our rudder on our 82 skier at the reunion? BTW, I'm planning on purchasing the rudder from Ron or Dan.
-
I will be more than willing to help! Never done it, but with Ron or Dan watching over our shoulders I think we'd be fine!
-
So then is the date of the reunion settled? Is it June or July? What are the dates? It's already late March ...
-
You must have missed it on the 1st page... it was kinda buried :-[
The weekend of June 17th - 19th (Fri, Sat & Sun) won by a wide margin.
Were CURRENTLY up to 10 confirmed attendees plus spouses, kids, guests, etc... Wooooo Hooooo!!!! If you plan on attending June 17th - 19th (or some combination) PLEASE REPLY to this sticky so I may continue to keep track of who's coming & get an overall head count. Go ahead and make your reservations directly with Buchanans Resort! They are first come / first served, but I'm sure they'll still have rooms, motel rooms &/or camping spaces available. Also, let me know if you plan on bringing your Skier. If so, you may want to reserve a covered slip (ask to be near Joel Roberts' slip) - cost is $14 a night (good rain insurance).
See the link for Buchanan's Resort @ http://www.parislanding.com/buchanan/index.htm (http://www.parislanding.com/buchanan/index.htm)
Please send me a PM if you have any questions, comments or concerns!

-
Hey, thanks ... we will be coming, two or three of us ... looking forward to the event ...
-
THAT MAKES ELEVEN!!!!! 8) Keep 'em coming folks!!! Its gonna be a great time!!! ;D
-
Joel, we will be coming. Rafe, Gonzo, and me(phil). Gonzo is my bro and Rafe my dad so that's 3 of us. We will be bringing our 82 American Skier. We are also interested in getting a covered slip. Does this slip have a shore station to raise it out of the water?
-
Very cool Phil... I dont THINK they have shore stations, but I could be wrong - you'll need to contact Buchanans. They do have electricity.
Phil + 2, One 82 Skier and possibly a covered slip (if you get a slip ask to be next to mine & the other AM Skiers).
Can you post that thread I sent you in a "sticky"? - I'm trying to get the same info from everybody so I may inform the resort & make some kinda quasi-plans :)
Thanks, Joel
-
Good news! The Resort Manager is really excited about our Reunion. I'm providing her information about the Reunion and the history of AM Skier boats in an attempt to get the local newpaper to do a story / taking pics, etc!! Very cool! She'd be happy to get us moored in side by side slips in a group and assist in any other requests we may have. If ya'all have ideas on how to make this an EVEN BETTER event, please post it on here and I'll have a crack at it!!
Dinner: We have reservations on Saturday Night @ 5:00 p.m. at Buchanan's Oak Tree Grill at the Resort. Were going in a little early so they may provide better service to our group before the typical dinner rush. The restaurant has a full menu from Appetizers to Burgers, Steaks, Chicken, Sandwiches and Wraps with Fried Catfish as the house specialty. They do not serve alcohol, but BYOB is perfectly acceptable, so bring the adult beverage of your choice. We'll be ordering individually off the Dinner/Lunch menus so no need to take advance orders.
I'll keep ya'all updated. Keep posting whos coming with total # of people, boat, slip, etc...
Joel
