Your boat was built to meet the requirements of the AWSA (American Water Ski Association) for towing sanctioned water ski tournaments. A redundant speedometer system is one of the requirements. By MY estimate tournament ski boats built in the 70's, the majority were used as intended. During the 80's maybe half were used as intended either in tournaments or for practice. The 90's my guess would be maybe 10% were used as 3-event tournament or practice tow boats, and another 10-20% in the new wakeboard discipline. 2000-current my best guess puts less than 5% in the 3-event category, 25% in the wakeboard category (tournament level use) The rest are all used for recreation use.

That was a much better answer than what I was going to offer:  Because two is better than one...and it looks pretty darn cool.

And... sometimes one of the feed tubes gets gunked up and you need the other speedo to determine your speed...  My left speedo goes right up to speed while my right speedo is a little slower...  both eventually end up at the same speed so no harm - no foul - plus, they LOOK really cool    8)

Is it SPRING yet!!!!???!!!???  I now have two competing toys...  My damn fine 1991 Advance and since I turned the BIG 5-0 in January my B-Day present was a 1986 Porsche 928S...  Both have a kick-@$$ V8 and both like nice, warm, sunny days...  DECISIONS...  DECISIONS    ;D
