Hi, I am looking to get my exhaust pipes into the water to make my 88 Advance a bit quieter, any ideas?

Call Ron up and ask what he recomends. I have elbows on my exhaust that puts the exhaust out about level with the bottom of the boat. I think they were a option on American Skiers.

Thanks Rich, will do :)

I'm not sure what you're talking about here. The factory exhaust is below water level until you get it up on plane. So are you looking to get the exhaust below water all the time or are you just wanting to make it quieter after it's on plane?
To put the exhaust below water level all the time would require something like a FAE exhaust system like this: http://www.freshairexhaust.com/ (http://www.freshairexhaust.com/)
The problem is that they aren't cheap and you have that God awful pipe hanging into the water all the time.
The other option is to just put quieter mufflers on the exhaust. the factory mufflers are quieter than straight pipes but not a whole lot. You can get aftermarket mufflers that would quiet it down quite a bit. It all depends on how much you want to spend.
I just don't understand why people want to do this. That's the biggest draw about these classic boats to me. The sound. Nothing sounds as good as they do. Hot rods on the water.

:) totally agree with you Backfoot, out of all the boats on our lake ours does sound the best, biased of course ;D.. I just want it to be as quiet as possible for driver observers interaction.

Ron can set up with a whisper drive muffler system if so desired............... a few db reduction can be had from adding an elbow to each exhaust outlet

I have an 88 Advance with a factory installed Whisper Drive. It may cost a few horsepower, but in my opinion, it's worth it on a pleasureboat utilized for skiing. One can have easier conversation in the boat both at idle and underway.
Ron T was around when the original Whisper Drive was developed (he probably invented it), so he's probably the best contact for details.
