Title: Propeller Size
Post by: tlabanich on July 25, 2016, 09:48:01 AM
I have an A/S 1993 legend. It maxes out at 3200 RPM. I feel this is very low. Ideas of where to check first? It runs smooth and idles....

Also, what is the correct prop size and pitch for this boat with a 351 ford motor?

Need more information. What prop is on it now? What altitude? What GPS speed are you getting at that 3200? 3200 RPM is way off but your tach could also be bad.

If you're at sea level up to about 2000' with a stock 260-300HP engine an Acme 541 should be your ticket to paradise.

The prop now is a brass 12 x 12.5

I'm in Ontario canada. Under 2000'. Never GPS'd it. But It's not moving that fast. Possibly 30-32 mph I would guesstimate.

Carb or EFI?

I would start with a tune up and check timing. Should also verify that the distributor advance weights aren't hung up and sticking or rusted.
