Title: Cooler curiosity
Post by: Mike Harry on May 16, 2016, 06:30:54 AM
So I take the Barefoot out on the lakes, usually close to home. I live across the street from my "home" chain of lakes, but sometimes we like to venture off to other lakes and spend the day.

When away from home base we carry quite a bit of drinks and food that need to be kept cool. A large cooler and the deck space on the Advance just don't see eye to eye. I don't care to carry multiple small coolers.

My question........ do any of you guys / gals strap a cooler to the swim platform as you cruise the lake? Just wondering if you have any pros / cons. Obviously less room on the platform,  but I was looking for anything else that doesn't seem apparent to me.

Mike,
I can't say as I've ever done this but I can tell you that I've seen a pair ski gloves sit on the platform for a blast across the lake and not fly off at all. There must be some amount of negative pressure underway between the swim platform and the transom.
You'll have a much bigger concern of keeping it in place under initial acceleration from the hole shot but if you can secure it enough for that, I'm sure it'll ride back there just fine.
I gotta believe that tying it off to the lifting eyes, rear tow eye or the swim platform brackets will be fine as long as the cooler doesn't weigh a ton.

I have a "just the right size" cooler that I place behind the drivers seat if and when needed
a few snug bungees to secure a cooler to the platform wouldn't be a problem, it's done all the time
coolers........... meh - Coldest May on record!

Sounds like you need a in-floor cooler from Ron.
