Title: In-Floor Ice Chest Coming Soon
Post by: RonT on October 29, 2015, 08:29:35 AM
For those who have asked how I get access to the forward fin bolts, or adding support to the floor from below in the area of the forward fin without cutting open the floor here is the answer. Between the pylon & passenger seat base and between the main stringers I do cut the floor open, to a specific rectangular dimension, then add a custom made drop in ice chest to disguise the hole. The ice chest not only covers up the hole but now add the convenience of having a small cooler right at the drivers reach. Unfortunately the mold for the ice chest was in really bad shape & needed to be re-created and is no longer usable. The good news is that while I recovering from a recent skiing accident and limited to how long I can stand on my broken leg I am creating new tooling to make these again. Should be done by next week.

Plug for the mold is done, test part for the mold was laid up yesterday, should pull that part by tomorrow, then I can lay up a production mold. When done I will post the picture sequence so you can see the process & why mold tooling takes time.
