Title: Sluggish hot starts
Post by: skibard on September 06, 2015, 05:02:31 PM
My 92 Legend has very low hours and a fairly new battery.  Quite often when I start the engine after it has run a while, it sounds like it is not going to crank.  It does part of a rotation, then hesitates like when you have a low battery charge.  The hesitation only lasts about a second, then it cranks strong and starts right up.  It has always started, but the hesitation makes my heart skip a beat too.   The battery connections are tight and clean at both ends.  Does anyone know if that is normal, or something I should try to fix?
Thanks.

Not normal, if battery is good, connections. cables are good, I would check voltage at starter when cranking next, & you may find a starter relay going bad (poor contacts inside) or starter going bad.

Thanks Ron.  I suspected it is not normal but wanted to be sure before going on a goose chase.  I will take my multimeter the next time out.  Thanks.
