That boat looks pretty sweet, assuming everything is in good working order I would put that value around 9K give or take.. What does everyone else think?

Personally I would only pay around 7k even though its probably worth 9 or 10.  I would tell the current owner that these boats are no longer made and parts are hard to come by.  Give him the sob story and see how low he will go.

$9k or 10k seems very reasonable to me based on what I saw earlier in the summer before I bought my 1989.  If the hours are really that low and the condition is solid, maybe even as high as 12k, especially if this is specifically the boat you're looking for (American Skiers seem difficult to come by based on my search - longer term I would expect that to help them keep their value, especially if Phil here keeps up the good work with the history and this site - these are American classics, in my opinion anyway...).

If you can give him the sob story and get it for $7k - that would be a steal in my humble and very subjective opinion.  The one caveat would be that I believe that's the WESMAR years and I'm not sure if that would have any impact on the quality of the product, but that looks like a really nice boat.

Good luck.

As much as I love my Advance, in this economy the 1993 is not worth anything near those prices.  Mine's a 91 with 680 hrs, new interior, back seat, new stencils, etc, and the trailer was completely blasted / painted.  Turn key & go...  I've done some maintenance, shaft bearing, etc.  I paid 7K which was still $500 higher than any of the blue book (high retail) values.  The bank will only give you 80 - 90 % of the retail value.  The reason for that is its not worth more than $6500 - even with extremely low hours.  What you pay is up to you, but in this economy I wouldnt offer more than $7K.

Dont know if it matters much but my 83AS with a 350chevy, 800hrs on her, and average condition is valued around $4500.  I would offer the guy $8000.  Beautiful boat!

Just curious - where do you guys go for book prices?

I've looked at NADA's prices and they'll quote a boat at $5,300 and then offer a suggested list price of $19,000 or something vastly different.  I can't reconcile the two numbers and haven't found another decent source.

In my opinion NADA sucks. Those are the absolute bottom line prices. As far as I've seen, NADA always prices the boats below what they are really worth.  I pretty much just search around and see what people are asking for the same or similar boats by simply using craigslist, ebay, google, etc..

I heard that...  Its a gorgeous boat and in great shape, but it is a 1993 BOAT... almost 18 years old.  No "vehicle" holds thier value, or increases, unless its a one of a kind, exotic, etc...  He's way high at $10K.  Someone with too much $$ will buy it eventually...  Unfortunately, thats NOT me...   :-\

Sorry to hear that!  I'm guessing there is no way the owner of the 93 will take $8K ???   If not, the season is almost over and prices should come down.  People are more motivated so they dont have to store the boat for six months that they had intended to sell...  Good luck on your quest!

It is unbelievable to me that there are boats out there for that price!!!!!!  What a bargain!  I have friends who pay $50 to $100 thousand dollars for newer boats with half the character and quality as that old 88 AS.  WOW
