Title: On/Off switches and breakers - repost
Post by: Joel on August 22, 2012, 01:29:54 PM
I've decided to repost here cause I didnt get any response in the "maintenance" threads:

I got the new dash power breakers installed without issue...  One to the left of the wheel and two to the right of the wheel - everything seems to work.  I think the breakers were probably fine, but the plastic threaded pieces broke off because of age / brittleness.  I have a couple questions on the accessory switch/breaker and indicator light:

The two breaker / switches on the STBD side of the wheel are connected to the accessory (cig lighter).  Not sure why there are two??  One has a white reset button under the white rubber nipple.  The other has a black button without the rubber nipple cover (just like the Nav, Stern, Bilge on/off switches)... but it does not behave like an on/off switch - it pushes in and stays there like a breaker.  Heres the question:

After I installed the breakers the accessory (cig lighter) indicator light is ALWAYS lit.  Doesnt matter if the key is on or not.  If the battery is connected the indicator light is lit.   None of the other indicator lights are lit unless they are manually switched on...  Did I connect something wrong?  Do I have a breaker and not an on/off switch for the accessory plug (cig lighter)??  Dont want to fry something this weekend - that would suck!

Any help would be greatly appreciated  :)

I figured as much...  It may be mis-wired but I changed everything out one connection at a time so I'm a bit confused.  The switch you sent me behaves more like a breaker but its identical to the one I took out...  really confusing.Give me a yell @ 614-886-3511 when you get up & about   :)
