Stumbled upon the boat, after going to buy a Mastercraft that turned out to be a dog.  The boat looks really good, and the owner had it listed a few weeks ago for $8,500 on Craigslist.  He took it to the lake, and it developed a miss, so he took it to a Mastercraft dealer to have it checked out. They found a blown head gasket and tore it apart, and left it apart, because he was told that they did not do that kind of work.
They said they could put a new engine in it for him..............you think?  With 300 hrs.....don't think so.     Anyway, I dealed for it and paid $6,500.  Pulled the other head today and prepped it and installed new high quality Felpro gaskets, unlike the paper junk that came factory. Problem........broke a dang head bolt while torquing final sequence.  Now, I've got to pull the dang thing back off to fix that.  Should have it fired up tomorrow sometime. :-)

Did you get the boat running yet?
I'm a big Volante fan, and yours looks pretty darn clean!

Yes, got it running and took it to Pickwick Lake and ran it some.  Runs good, and don't see any problems really.  It does have a new HEI in it that is an "Auto" version with vac advance. I think the curve is wrong, cause about 38 is all it will do, and seems to be struggling to rev on the big end.  I have ordered a new marine version HEI to change it out.  Will try it again to see if this fixes the problem.
