Title: Fuel sender replacement
Post by: backfoot100 on June 27, 2012, 07:24:59 PM
After I finished my rebuild I replaced the gauges and the fuel tank sender. When I was at the reunion I realized that the fuel gauge was only reading up to half a tank. I pulled off the sender lead and grounded it to the tank and the gauge pegged full so I knew the gauge was good.
I was not a very happy camper that my sender only lasted three months. It's a Moeller which I thought was supposed to be a quality piece.

I did some searching and I found some senders at Wema USA. These are not the usual swing arm construction. They have a vertical tube that the float rides up and down on. They're all 316 stainless construction and it's a quality built piece. Check it out at http://www.wemausa.com/ (http://www.wemausa.com/)

I guess the real test is how long it lasts but I'm impressed so far. The prices aren't bad either. The Moeller I think was was $20 or $25. The Wema unit was $43 shipped to my door.

If anyone is needing a new tank sender, I would definitely check them out.

Here is the new vs. the old. The Wema unit just looks so much more stout.
