Post by: Mike Harry on May 11, 2012, 12:32:38 PM
Thanks to all of you who have helped me over the last few years. Welcome those of you who just came aboard. Just noticed that the site is up to 300 members! Thought I would mark the occasion.

Now, if you can only get 10% of the membership to come to the Reunion in TN...  with family & friends included the 2nd Annual AM Skier Reunion would sell out the Resort and it'd be one helluva time!!!

I cant make it this year (the taxman cometh and wiped out my savings acct) but I'll keep trying to get people involved!  Last year was SOOOOOO much fun... it was like hanging out with a huge family (without all the drama)   :)   We boated, skied, footed, tubed & kneeboarded...  We ate, drank & BS'd till the wee hours, but best of all we skied & talked AM Skier boats with the guys & gals who designed & built them - PRICELESS!!!  :)

If you cant tell I'm gonna be VERY depressed around reunion time...   Hope you guys have a great showing and a fantastic time at Buchanans!!!

 8)  Hey everyone! I picked up an '87 Advance yesterday. I have previously owned an 88 ProStar and I currently have a 03 'bu.  I was totally ignorant about this brand of boat until I found the A.S. Advance on craigslist. After a quick Google search I was amazed at the history of these boats and very pleased with my "new" acquisition.
The paper work that came with the boat included the original factory invoice,  the statement of origin for the boat and the certificate of origin for the trailer... too cool.
The boat is a little toasty... Interior is rough, the motor has some surface rust. It needs a new starter and stuff. I can't wait to get this thing back in fully operational condition.

I look forward to sharing the joys and challenges with y'all.

Cheers!

WRURHF,

Welcome aboard!!!   You've come to the right place!   I was completely ignorant of this brand as well until I found my 91 Advance on EBay - instantly fell in love with the boat and the performance is STILL great!   Then I found this place and its been a wonderful ride so far!!   Ron, Dan and the boys will have you up & running in no time - lots of experience on this forum thats for sure (AM Skier boat builders / owners, Mechanics, RETIRED CG Marine Inspectors...)  and old hacks like myself...  you name it - were on here!!!   ;)

Funny coincidence, I just met a Coastie Chief out on the river this weekend. He has a very nice Nautique 176.

In general...  most Coasties are good guys cause they join the Coast Guard for the missions and NOT the money (there aint any).  If he's a Bos'n Chief he'd be a good guy to have around if you ever need a tow / assistance...  If he's a MK (Mechanic) then he'd be a good guy to have around if you ever need help with the motor...  If he's a cook just throw him overboard...  unless your having a cook out or need someone to organize a reunion...  LOL!!!   I was a "just a cook" way back in the day   ;)
