Title: "Shark Fins" underneath hull...?
Post by: 56mulberry on August 06, 2010, 09:24:01 PM
OK--forgive my ignorance  ???  but do all the AS's have the "upside down shark fin" blades or keels or whatever is the proper term underneath fore and aft of the raw water intake grate?  Just curious--DOUG

I'm pretty sure all American Skiers had these.  I believe the "proper" name is tracking fins.  Most (maybe all) inboard ski boats have these which help keep the boat from being pulled around by the skier when cutting.  I believe this is also the reason they are mounted directly below the pylon.  In short, it helps the boat hold its straight line.
