I know a lot of you have the extended pylon so I want to ask the question of how to remove the "T" from our pylon. It's going to kill me to cut it off.
Maybe heat? I want to remove for the pylon (footing only) and reinstall the T for skiing.
Let me know what you guys did.
Thanks

DON'T CUT IT OFF!!!
I struggled with this same dilemma for a few years until I found the Super Deluxe Boom Mount. Go to tachyonmotorsports.com and check it out. Yeah, I know it sounds pretty tacky (no pun intended) ;D
With that thing installed, I can have my boom and extended pylon up at the same time and still use the factory pylon for a slalom set without taking either of them off. It's pretty cool. I also have it mounted high up on my pylon above the boom clamp so the slip-over extended pylon that I have actually sits about 30" off the floor. It gives the extended pylon that much extra height over what it normally would be (slipping over the factory pylon) and much more sturdy besides.
The only problem I have with it is that it just doesn't look that good. Not that it's terribly ugly. In fact, the fit and finish is superb. It just doesn't look "right" on the pylon. It would probably be much better if it was anodized black to go with the black pylon. It is stronger than s**t though and if you remove it you would never know it was ever installed. I keep mine installed permanently just like my boom clamp and I really don't get a lot of "Hey, what the hell is that thing"? But then again, most people I go skiing with know what it is. After you have it on you definitely get used to it and now I don't even hardly notice it. In fact, most people riding with me find it really handy as an extra high hand grab if we hit other wakes or rough water. Since I installed it I also have yet bang my knee on the boom clamp because this thing is in the way and youcan't help but see it. So that's actually and added benefit that I'm sure was never thought of in the design process.
They're kinda pricey (I think I got mine for $100 several years ago) but they work wonderfully. If you want I can get a pic but there several on their website. I could get one of how I have it installed if you want though. Just let me know.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for you input. I just ordered one. If you could, when you get a chance take a picture as I am interested on how you mounted it.
Ron T. never said that boats weren't expensive!

I have a Hi-flyin pole--so I had to trim about a 1/4" off the tips of my "T" and then gently round the edges so the pole slips over nicely...since it has a slalom pivot also I just leave it on all the time so we can go with wakeboard or skis just fine... did not have to sacrifice much of the "T"...still plenty with the ext pole removed to work great...

I did the same thing.

If you guys only knew how much I cringe when I see pics like these! That poor pylon base was never designed for loads like this, please check your pylon base "U" bolts at lease annually & inspect for cracks in the weld where the aluminum crossover connects to the motor rails (along the stringer)
Someday somebody is going to forget the guy wires & we will find out what a what breaks first. :o

;D ;D
already been there - 91 legend had to pull the engine, reweld the mount and add a gusset on each side
next season the owner drove the boat over a pile of rocks.......... I don't service this boat anymore

I'm building a new mold for a drop in ice chest that goes in the floor between the pylon & passenger seat, maybe I should sell these as access ports to the front side of the pylon for repairs. 8)

Before I put a tower on my boat I just used a 2"X4" amd a rubber mallet and knocked the Horazontal section of my "T" out. Once the tower was installed I just reversed the procedure and knocked it back in place after a shot of WD-40. Once replaced I did have to touch up the paint just a little. I used a seperate 2"X4" as a brace to lower the pressure from the hits.
