Title: Stupid new guy question
Post by: TS888 on September 14, 2011, 08:41:29 PM
OK, boat is 1985 Advance, engine is Pleasurecraft GM 350, original to boat.

Which way should this engine turn?  I found a post on this forum saying all American Skier engines rotate CCW as viewed from the back (prop) side, CW viewed from the front.

The engine in my boat is rotating CW as viewed from the rear, CCW from the front.

The starter looks to be a recent replacement, it has a rebuild tag, which when I wiped off the dirt, also wiped away all numbers...

I decided to pursue this question because the engine won't start, and I have all the required components -- air, fuel, spark, compression.  And when I crank it, it appears to be pumping air out the carb...

Does my boat have the wrong starter?!

Thanks
Tony

Sounds like that's exactly your problem.
