Title: fiberglass stringers in American Skiers

When did they start using fiberglass stringers in American skiers? Bill

I believe it was around 1987 that they first started using them.

Fiberglass floors came first as we didn't have a history of rotten stringers like others. Our stringers were fiberglass wrapped, kiln dried clear Douglass Fir, a much more expensive core than the typical pine or plywood and naturally rot resistant. The glass floors started in a few 1987 models but all 1988 models. The first 100% composite A/S boats didn't come until 1996, Some of the WESMAR built boats (1990-95) did have various types of non-wood cores in the stringers, including some plastic honeycomb.
