Title: Super Bad Replacement Engine from Marine Power
Post by: RonT on December 18, 2009, 02:31:11 PM
I did some work with Marine Power last week on a new motor in development that may be available in brand X ski boats, anyone want a replacement engine (a bit pricy)
Aluminum GM Caddilac LSA supercharged, intercooled 530HP 500+ lbs. of torque in base stock trim
Think about that bad boy under the christmas tree!

That would be one bad MAMA JAMA!!! I'm sure very spendy as well.  I'm thinking of performance as far as a traditional ski boat hull with no relief cuts and semi flat bottom,   Would you see speeds higher than say 52-53 mph?  With that power and torque it seems it would be great as a ski show boat  or  a barefoot boat motor. Thoughts on this as a traditional ski boat engine.....

Would it be a good canidate for a restoration job?  Say in a Volante?  Is it the same as this model:  http://www.marinepowerusa.com/Products/PDF's/2009_6200_LSA_MarineBase.pdf (http://www.marinepowerusa.com/Products/PDF's/2009_6200_LSA_MarineBase.pdf)

Yes, it's a complex modern engine with a lot of wiring and MEFI 5 computer doing alot of work
No, I wouldn't consider it for a typical ski boat with any hook in its hull
Yes, it is expensive, figure about the price of (2) 300 hp motors
No, it won't fit under the motor box of the standard small block box but I think it would fit under the big-block box
Yes, if I won the lottery I would have one just to be different.

I think i would have one too..as much wakeboarding as we do..that would come in handy in a tanked out boat full of ballast and people.. :o :D
