Everyone tell what your screen name means. Some are pretty self explainable, but I bet some are pretty cool!
Ill start
I have studied Kung Fu for 20 years. Gongchuan means (basically) hard fist or fists. Its a nickname that was given to me when I was younger.
-
Wow.
Yeah, mine is boring. Just my first name. :)
-
Mine is just as boring as Phil's... first name. Soooo... you dont haaaaaaaave to call me darlin'... darrrrrrr-lin'... You dont even have to callllll meeeee by myyyyyyy naaaaaaammmmme.... Sorry, felt a country song comin' on! ;D
-
Mine's not cool either. I am a long time Hydrodyne owner and I live in Indiana. This will be my first season behind an American Skier. I have a pretty good feeling that I won't be missing the Dyne after this season.
-
Pretty cool to me, cause I dont know what a hydrodyne is. Have to look it up!
-
Gongchaun,
Check out www.hydrodyners.com. That site will tell just about anything you would like to know about Hydrodynes.
-
Well, isnt that interesting! I lived on a river (Lake Marin) for a good deal of my youth and I have seen alot of boats, but I have never seen one of those.
And while Ive got your attention, I would love to see some pictures of your 86 Barefoot Skier!
-
Gongchuan,
Pictures will be coming soon. I have been feverishly turning wrench to get her back together. Once she shines, I will post some pictures.
-
I am in the same "boat" if you will. Just did a complete engine rebuild, new floors, carpet should be going in this week, alot of parts powdercoated, waiting on some parts to show up........ I know you must know what I am talking about.
What color is your Barefoot?
-
Mine is light gray with dark gray on the sides, stripe, and bow. The previous owner painted in the area around the strip on the bow so it is all one solid color. Unfortunately, that portion has faded quite considerably. We'll just have to wait and see what the buffer can do.
-
first name last initial pretty original i know!
-
I just wanted to bump this. Not a whole lot of ski action taking place this time of year and there have been several new folks that have joined up or have become more active.
Anyone else wanna share?
(By the way I changed my screen name because it made it a lot less difficult to call and talk to Ron..... so he knew who I was and what boat I was talking about. I didnt have to explain it everytime I called this way.......but it was and is on all other forums I frequent Gongchuan)
-
My freshman year in high school one of my coach's called me "Gonzo" and it stuck ever since. Last name being Gonzalez there is a few Gonzo's out there.
-
Was watching an episode of 'SpongeBob SquarePants' - the one where SpongeBob was teaching Patrick how to blow bubbles. One of the most important techniques is the Pelvic Thrust...but when you do it, you have to make the "Woo" sound. So..."Pelvic Woo" became the name of my '88 Advance...totally G-rated. I'd like to name the '90 Comanche, "Pelvic Woo, Too" but the wife said no fargin' way!
-
That is a good one Pelvic woo. :D
-
Right after college I drove ski boats (interestingly enough it was a Hydrodyne Grand Sport) and taught kids how to waterski at a camp - we had "camp names" and mine was Big Kahuna. Don is my real name.
-
"No fargin way..." Is that line from Johnny Dangerously? Great movie!!!
My Male Stripper name is... uhhhhhh... uhhhhmmmmmm.... nevermind ;)
-
Wetamb is short for wetambitions which was the name of my first Baja power boat. Second much larger Baja was Tapped Out. Traded for the SeaRay which is Getchawet. AM skier doesnt have a name yet, even after 20 yrs..... Besides, I get enough crap for BJ so I figured why use that !
-
Gonzo is cool. I wondered if it was because of the drummer on the muppets (at least I think it was the drummer) also I believe they called John Bonnom (Spelling) from Zepplin Gonzo.
So your in good company in my opinion! 8)
-
mine is 11.50fox ......cause my 1st mustang was a 93 fox body and it ran 11.50s in the 1/4 mile. not bad for a full body a/c street car on 17" drag radials. now i think its kinda slow{full body fairmont now runs 5.90s in the 1/8th on drag radials}......lol

I thought I would bring this tread back to introduce myself. my name is charlie shy, hence the screen name. I have owned my a.s. for 10 yrs. boat owner for 15yr. ski bum since I was 7. I'm a auto mechanic so I do my own boat maint. I would like to thank ron & dan for all there information & help. I have gone thru some old post & learned alot. I have a wish list on hold with ron, i will order when I get boat unraped. I live in north central co so lake still had ice cover last week, but it has been warm this week ( near 60 ) but with lake near 8,000ft it can take awhile for summer to get here. so for now I will try to snowmobile till the lake opens in may ( or till it stops dumping snow) thanks for the forum. will try & post some pics when iget the boat out.
-
RonT - is short for Ron Tanis, short & simple because I hate to type
-
Same logic as RonT. My name is Paul Martel. I am the original owner of a custom built 1988 American Skier Advance that pulled five brothers barefooting, simultaneously!
-
I'm a firefighter in Arizona. Hellfighters is an old John Wayne firefighter movie. It was also the name I gave our academy class. 334 is my command number.
-
Dax is my name. When I started college I had just gotten out of the Army...I was pretty wild, to put it mildly. About this same time the movie Gladiator had come out. Long story short, after an epic keg stand surrounded by frat boys and half naked co-eds at a pretty decent yard party, I drunkenly jumped on a table and screamed out "are you not entertained!!!"
Been Daximus ever since.
-
From now on Dax will be in charge of entertainment at any following reunions...................... ;D
-
Well, I hope SOMEBODY steps up to coordinate the next reunion!!! Hey guys... long time of the forum. I no longer have my Skier or my 928 or the Jeep... BUT, I do have my ski, rope, handle & vest... Get on the ball getting the 2015 reunion together and send me an invite!!!
Always an AM Skier fan!
Joel

Good thread to introduce myself ...
Long time avid offshore angler, with an affinity for the Atlantic sailfish (also called ‘spike fish’, ‘spindle-beak’, ‘spindle-snoot’, ‘mylmeen’ (mostly in USA)) I named my first fishing boat, Spindlebeak. Fast forward, 18 years, and here we are. My 10 year old daughter loves to ski and hydro-slide, so no better opportunity to add a classic ski boat to our family.
Over the weekend, I was fortunate to pickup a nice barn kept 1991 Legend. In fact, the listing was on this forum. She will need a little TLC, but all in all, she is in very good shape. The maiden voyage was this past Sunday. Other than a leaking water-pump, it was a huge success.
