Title: Early Side-Hull graphics-Nearly Done...
Post by: 56mulberry on June 01, 2011, 10:29:57 AM
OK--for those that were following the graphics repro thread I have been working diligently to try to create a file that could be used to have a high-quality vinyl sticker made that is a direct replacement for the early American Skier side hulls.

I just recieved the vector file today from my graphic design buddy who made it in a format that will let my print shop bascially size it anywhere from 18" down to 2" tall and maintain resolution--it is also done in layers so the outline (OEM was black) on lettering (OEM was white) could also be changed to use any color of background lettering and any color of border in a high quality vinyl.  The outline can be printed on the vinyl letter in a solvent-based dye as a border (same dye used to PRINT on car wraps) then laminated over with another vinyl laminate which gives it much more durability and UV/elemental protection.  We are  guessing it should last 5-7 years at a minimum--but probably will last much longer.

ANd the beauty is it will look as OEM as you can get with sizing and reproduction....

I am going to carry the file to the printer and do a sizing test run on plain paper for initial fitment at lunch today hopefully--or if not will do next week when get back in town.

Will post pics of progress.

THis has been a long process so I appreciate the patience of those who have been following and waiting for end result--THANKS!!!  DOUG

Actually....getting boat out of water TOMORROW night......decided to go ahead and do a moderate recondition of the trailer--new carpet on running boards....and inside wheel wells and a fresh coat of Rustoleum black paint...just have to rewire the lights now.

Will get it out of water tomorrow night and then do the graphic fitment process......maybe this week?

Let you all know soon.  DOUG

Yes--new info is that there is NO new info! parked boat Labor day intending to do this project all winter and re-visited boat and forum for first time since then finally tonite!!

Am contacting graphics guy again tomorrow after another prelim conversation with him Thursday last week--last two sets were slightly distorted and a few mm off my decal "shadow"....hoping to correct this very soon and get it right.

Although I did notice it looks like someone else beat me to it possibly? hopefully?  :'(

It is a slow complicated process so far.....and I really want my graphics back on this season...
